Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

there's some dope off-roading trails up in the 'cuse. Behind south campus. And there are quarries. Damn. That ***** made my life as an orangeman so much better. I just wish I had discovered it earlier than senior year.

Eastwood.

Commute downtown via James.
Used to live in Chittenango, I miss that commute.

I don't have a fixed yet, but I am a big fan. I ride a grey Marin, racked and fendered. I also have a Scott road bike.

When and where?
I'm free evenings next week. I'm curious to see that there are fixies in Sad-excuse, *ahem*, I mean Syracuse.

Bikes: IRO Jamie Roy, Motobecane Le Champion Titanium

Liverpool

Commute to the north side via Morgan and Old Liverpool Road.

Ride a white IRO Jamie Roy, though right now it is set up as a singlespeed. Have to get more used to the fix gear to take it on the road. Right now it is more like it is riding me.

To get to the trails up on South Campus, go up the road to the Admin building, and turn left into the gravel parking lot with the "roundabout" that is up there with nothing else built around it. Keep riding straight ahead towards the woods, ride around the small cable gate, over the rubble piles (Still heading towards the woods), then continue straight to what looks like a small rubble pile and a trail (woods road) magically appears and opens up into a barren wasteland of clay mine waste.

Here is a MS paint map I threw together...I was at ESF and graduated 2 years ago. The red line is the loop I mainly rode with the yellow lines being alternate routes if time was short. The blue area is as labeled...downhill. North Shore stuff, very nice to at least admire if you can't ride it (ramps, bridges, drops, boardwalks, ect). Have fun
