you sick jerk. |
ugh... ugh... ugh... its so early. I want to go back to sleep. see you all there!
|
how'd you guys all do? we had a great time, pushed hard and finished in 5 hours both days...
|
if we didn't average about 30 minutes per rest stop, we would have made fantastic time. hey man, somebody had to pillage the food and drink.
|
also, babychris bumped me intot he fence crossing the finish day one. i wouldn't have fell but i hit the brake and over the bars i go.
|
haha..nice, what time did you guys get in? the only fixie person i saw i think was nocoins..didnt bump into any others...
|
Were you the dudes with the I <heart> DC shirts on? If so, I saw you guys hopping curbs & skidding & stuff at the last rest stop of day two, when I was about ready to fall over. That made me feel that much more pathetic. Besides the DC guys & various members of Team Schmeam, I saw a trio of guys in full Puma gear riding fixies (though I only saw them on day 1, didn't run into them on day 2 at all) and one grey-haired guy riding a Trek singlespeed, which was pretty cool.
|
we were in fact the 1 <3 dc kids doing skids and bunny hops(only babychris was hopping up the curbs, although leaving the lunch stop we did both bunny hop the railroad tracks). that rest stop was after our awesome paceline with two team schmeam members. we did that 14.3 miles in 40 minutes. we got in day 2 around 3:30? we left pretty late both days, and we always took super long rest stops because we dont have a sense of time and liked to get free stuff.
edit: we were also the *******s that dedicated "God Bless the USA" to Team Schmean so that you all had to suffer while we were getting on the train laughing. |

We never did get in a good paceline.. kept either getting stuck behind people going slow or being blown past by spandexy dudes going 25. And I agree with you about the rest stops.. all those breaks to eat as many PowerBars as I could stomach killed my time. Also kinda killed my desire to ever eat a PowerBar again. |
No, my girlfriend bought us a home cooked meal to Ocean City, so we only stopped by the spag. dinner for ice cream.

Man, that cracked me up when you did the dedication. We looked around because we wanted to dedicate something back to you... something even worse, but you cut out. BASTARDS!!! It was great meeting you, be prepared to get kicked in the neck next year! |
As this blurry picture will attest, you guys missed out.

it was great to meet you guys too, hopefully next year we can coax a few more folks out, and you'll get your revenge for that song dedication. |

in philly news, are you guys going to the search for the holy grail race september 30th? unfortunately, i am trapped in dc that weekend for work. |
the ride was fun. got to meet lots of new people. got to push ryan into a fence. took lots of pictures.(i'll post a link to my flickr as soon as I stop being lazy) we also realized that we are fast on the road, just really slow at the rest stops.

day 1 I ate about 20 of those fruit leather things, day 2 at the first rest stop thing, I tried to eat one and almost threw up everywhere. I had to take like a 40 minute break. |
mile 8 and the kid needed a rest. what a tool.
you know, if i hadnt filled my bottle with coffee, that whole fruit leather experience would have never happened because we wouldnt be stopping to put water in my now empty bottle. thats my pay back for the fence. |
Also, based on running 72.6 gear inches for 156 miles, I figured I pedaled 136,145 times this weekend.
