Ms150

Is anybody else doing the MS150 this weekend? If so, what time are you starting, and where are you planning to stay?

lasertotheface 09-13-06 11:27 AM

I'll be there!

I think me and my team members will be leaving the starting point around 6:30 or so.
We booked a hotel a few months ago. It was rediculous expensive, and apparently its find to hard vacancies.

You can find me on the black soma rush with purple grip tape.
Our team will be wearing powder blue tuxedo shirts with our team logo screen printed on the back.

ryand 09-13-06 12:08 PM

I'll be riding the left side drive IRO. The three of us will have on I <3 DC (Pirates) t-shirts. We should meet up after the ride.

edit: We are staying at 4th and Reed. If you're taking the train over, we could meet up for breakfast and a train ride too. Wooo fun.

marked001 09-14-06 07:35 AM

I'll be there as well on a team... we have some ghey jerseys :) haha... on a black/gold Fetish...

Paul And Pista 09-14-06 10:41 AM

I should be there with my road bike - black Cannondale R1000 with black and yellow tires. I'll be wearing a super cool yellow jersey that my company gave me and black and red shorts. The color combination might be physically painful.

I really need to read up on this a bit, because I haven't even gotten the required donations together yet. Oops! And what's with it starting in Jersey? I can't believe I need to get up early to get on PATCO.

ryand 09-14-06 10:55 AM

Yeah for real! I thought it was city to shore, not suburb of hell to shore. My girlfriend is goign to be driving down and meeting up, so if you guys wanna send anything down in a cooler or somethin, let me know.

kalani79 09-14-06 10:57 AM

don't listen to ryan, he doesn't have a girlfriend, he has a sister.

ryand 09-14-06 10:59 AM

patrick, you make me sad. hence my new avatar.

baldylocks 09-14-06 11:02 AM

It can be both

zempf 09-14-06 12:27 PM

My girlfriend & I are going, though we were too lazy/cheap to get a hotel at the shore & are going to stay at her parents' place. I'll definitely keep an eye out for the tuxedo shirts (though those'll be hard to miss).

ryand 09-14-06 12:36 PM

We were planning to sleep on the beach, until one of our team members(dirtyphotons) decided he wants a bed instead. Now we're trying to find a room but OC is booked.

I went to Drexel and the tires are new as of yesterday, so probably not me. :D

ryand 09-14-06 12:51 PM

What tires did you get? I have a black and yellow Rubino Pro on the back and a black/black Rubino Pro on the front. I loves me them tires.

Paul And Pista 09-14-06 12:53 PM

Michelin Krylion Carbons. I haven't ridden them yet, but they seem like they're going to ride pretty nice.

ryand 09-14-06 12:57 PM

babychris has black and yellow michelin carbon tires, i dont know the exact model though. they are funnnn.

Paul And Pista 09-14-06 06:10 PM

Anyone know when the donation money is actually due?

im pretty sure right before the race.

fxdwhl 09-14-06 06:55 PM

I'll be there on my green track bike with yellow lugs rocking a tuxedo tee.
Money is due at the start of the ride or they won't give you a number.
Good luck with housing. Sometimes you can find something once you get to Ocean City. There's a tent somewhere at the finish line that helps people out if they need housing. It's really a last chance though. There used to be an Ocean City hotel guide linked off the MS site, you could probably try getting in touch with them.

dirtyphotons 09-14-06 07:21 PM

i called the ms 150 folks at 1-888-895-7733

Oh man, I wish this thread was started months ago, I would have tried to recruit all the fixed gear bikes for my team.

TEAM SCHMEAM!!!

Stet and I started the team last year and we are trying to make it bigger and bigger with more fixed gear bikes, more junkers, and more kids with powder blue Tuxedo T-Shirts. I love how last year we got to pass a lot of 5k bike riding weekend warriors in our jeans and tshirts on fixed gears. Yes, it is NOT a race, but its still fun to ride side by side with these guys (and girls).

Ryand, I work on 4th and Reed... maybe I have seen your bike parked outside?

Lazertotheface - you should be riding your tall bike!

If you see me out there, say hello and hang out! I will be on the blue track bike with the orange front tire and orange bullhorns.... or course wearing the powder blue tuxedo shirts with the Team Schmeam Logo on the back.

well, how about next year we get a big team of fixies and whatnot. we'll show everyone how we get business done.

fxdwhl 09-15-06 03:59 AM

It's looking like rain showers are going to hang around till Saturday afternoon sometime. I think I might end up riding my fixed crosscheck with full fenders. 5 minutes of riding wet roads without fenders and I'm kicking myself for using the wrong bike.

Also, our tuxedo t's are going to be 'lived-in' pretty well this weekend. I think till Sunday mine might know the way home. Anyone going to sleep in theirs as well to set some time of record for longest period of time wearing a tuxedo t? I think I smell a record in the making...

ryand 09-15-06 07:45 AM

i don't leave my bike outside when i'm visiting philly. i keep it in her basement. but whats up with that dude/girl with the yellow single speed schwinn le tour that s/he leaves out in the rain and the frame is in perfect condition. she lives pretty much right next to that person. anyhow, do you guys want to get the teams together and ride with each other? EXCEPT Paul and Pista, because he has gears for this ride... EWWWW!
(joking)

actually, i'm buying a geared bike today. first time in three years. i'm super excited. hilly century rides, here i come! (yes hills, they do exist outside of philly)

Bleh.. weather.gov still says 30% chance of showers on Saturday, so I'm going to hold out hope that it's not going to be drizzling on all of us the whole way out there. Might have to get a plastic bottle or something & ghetto up a fender, we'll see. Are you guys going to ride PATCO out to the starting point? I'm trying to figure out how much of a pain that's going to be, but I have no desire to drive out there either.

Anyway, I'll be the guy with the camo shorts on & the sparkly blue Fuji Royale conversion.

ryand 09-15-06 09:32 AM

take the train, it'll be like $2. if you guys want to meet up, I can PM my number.

Pyro515 09-15-06 11:26 AM

Hey guys,

I am also riding in the 150 tomorrow. Anybody else thinking about tackling the extra 25 mile loop? I am using a geared bike right now, but count me in next year for the fixed gear team. I found a sweet circa 1970/80's road bike in my neighbor's trash that I am converting to a fixed gear. Hopefully I will have it build in the next couple of weeks. I will post pics when it is done.

Mike
