Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? Well, you can't get any better testimonial for running a brake than that. It also brings to mind a couple of things. Riding fixed isn't like riding any other way--even though it's elemental and beautifully simple, it puts more demands on the bike and rider than any other type of cycling. On these forums you hear lots of phrases like "Suicide Hubs" "Converting my old beater" "Stripped old hub" "I guess the loktite (sp?) didn't hold"

Pretty scary when you think about what can happen in a split second on a sunny afternoon.

Just an observation and not a reflection on you BitPart but Riding junk is a quick way to get yourself torn up but good.

As for Will's shop, I know tons of people who have rode away happy. But the forums are a great way for a retailer/mfr to stay in touch with his audience and answer hard questions to make his business better.

Glad you two kissed and made up, it was making me uncomfortable.

Not to get into a grammar pissing match, but you'd think someone who was such a condescending vocabulary prick on page 1 (…While you are googling "besmirched"…) would at least spell “ridiculous” correctly.

Just sayin'

NYCBikes is awesome. thats all i gotta say.

1. you're right, a shop can price something at any price they want, and both NYCBikes and Performance can do as they see fit. i can also point out that NYCBikes sell a roll for DOUBLE what many other places do and let people make informed choices about where to shop. don't get so grumpy when someone points out the flaws of your fave shop (or employer as the case may be). in addition, while i think the mark up is ridiculous, the attitude of the employees (you?) is what led to my decision not to support this shop.

2. if ya want talk discuss loss leaders, perhaps you should tell NYCBikes to look into the concept to help them drum up a bit of positive regard. regardless, you brought up "market price" and i simply pointed out that $6 is in fact not the market price for one roll of velox rim tape. don't get so grumpy when you're proven wrong.

3. cute

4. cry? you're the one getting all fussy. troll? shill.

here's the ride i just got home from: https://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=471546.

how was your ridin?

dude your trashing them over a few dollars everytime someone mentions their name. Maybe you should try an anger class or something to defuse.
And they have plenty of positve regard. I am one of the positives.
I'm grumpy because I'm old. Not that anything in my post would lead one to believe me being grumpy. I'm having fun at your expense.
And you are a Troll no doubt about it.
And no I'm not an employee. Sorry. Witz.
Nice ride. Mine was on a conctrete oval for 1-1/2 hours.
Maybe next time someone posts a question about shops, etc think about holding your fingers back and do some deep breathing, count to 10 backwards. And let some other people voice their opinions rather than dictate yours.
Just a side note, is your band Reds the same Reds from the 70's?

am i trashing NYCBikes over doubling the price of velox? no. it's annoying, but not as annoying as being ignored and treated with a ****ty attitude. even that doesn't really bother me much, but it's enough to keep me from shopping there when i can support the good people at bike works, trackstar, and habitat. am i angry? not at all. it's quite difficult to anger me, and it's not gonna happen on the internet.

as for the troll accusation, i have 2000+ posts and probably no more than 10-15 or so of those are about NYCBikes. what's your ratio?

let some other people voice their opinions? where have i prevented anyone from doing so? many many people have shared their opinion of NYCBikes, and you're the one complaining about that, not i. regardless, your fun is at no expense to me.

and no, not the same Reds, and the Reds i was in recently ended.
