Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? ...because it was not much of a brand to begin with. Still, it's nice to keep the thieves guessing.

It matches my espresso cup and saucer set so well though!

Ps. Anyone ride a bianchi?

I unbranded my Pake. Actually, I wouldn't mind a small builder's badge at the front of the top tube, or something like that. I just don't like the billboard aesthetic. My car doesn't scream "Honda!" at a casual glance. If anyone cares, they can figure it out.

Because Adbusters told me logos were bad. I also plan on stripping my roadie down and doing the exact same thing.

That seems like sacrilege. But my bike says "Schwinn" all over it. We all know that it is not a Schwinn at all. It's like a Daewoo with a Dodge* badge.

*Dodge, in my opinion, is the automotive equivalent of Schwinn. Unless it's a Paramount, but that's a whole different animal, er...bike.

Bikes: Makino (have the parts; not yet built), EAI Barekuckle, Unknown Japanese fixed conversion, Centurion Dave Scott Ironman road bike (frame), Secret project bike, 2007 Trek Madone 5.2, Cannondale Caad3 mountain bike

I bought a bike without decals.

Then I put some on so I could take 'em off again. I wanna be a real fixie rider, ya know.

If your bike had DUTRETZNASS labeled on the downtube, would you leave it?

When I get my Madison I'm going bedazzle it so I can ride it while wearing my matching acid wash bedazzled jean jacket.

I just might. I've gone from intending to powdercoat it a nice, classic green and getting some brown deep v's and other brown accents to powdercoating it green and getting ALL GOLD! GOLD GOLD GOLD! Gold rims, gold stem, gold seatpost, gold handlebars, gooooooold. And, of course, it's also getting bedazzled. People will have to wear sunglasses just to look at my magnificence!

I bought my bike for low effort, so the stickers stay.

Besides, no one even has ever heard of Van Dessel other than bike nerds.

I'm thinking of redoing the vinyl though because they're getting worn from being a commuter.

I don't know about a trend but I completely stripped the decals off my Litespeed Classic back in 1993 and pretty much doing so with the rest of my fleet since. The bikes look so much cleaner without decals. But where the decals are clearcoated, I leave those on...

Yeah? I came out of my mother with a bike and it was already stripped. I did that **** in the womb.

EDIT: I have not seen this trend among roadies and their multi-speed machines.

So you won't stand out in the fixed gear crowd.

Roadies leave theirs on so they won't stand out in the roadie crowd. Plus, we tend to store our bikes indoors, preferably next to the bed so we can look at them. Besides, the logos on my Orbea are painted on, not decals.
