You need to ask whoever it was on here that polished these:

I've done this before. You can get some oven cleaner (the hardcore **** with Lye in it). Soak them in that for a few minutes. This will remove the anodizing. Then give them a quick wipe down with some Simple Green. Find yourself a good buffing wheel and get some fine jewelers polishing compound. Start polishing. It will take a long time to get a nice even finish like the pic above, but it's sort of fun. I guess.

yea, I did those miche cranks. after I get the hubs and headset done I'll post pics and a brief how-to. I only use a variety of sandpaper, then a variety of buffing wheels on a bench-top grinder, nothing chemical.

that's polished up from raw aluminum. Paul isn't selling polished chainrings because they are a pain to polish due to their intricacy, so i asked him for one prior to anodyzation then polished it up from that.

I have used Aluminum Burnishine to polish my cranks - road Campy Nuovo Records - the stuff is cheap - I buy it at a True Value Hardware store.
Using a tray, sit the cranks in the Burnishine or brush it on with an acid brush, and let it stand for 15 minutes or so. the tarnish on the cranks will turn black. rinse the cranks with some water and then polish the crank with aluminum polish to get the final mirror-like shine. Using the burnishine will do alll of the work - once you get to the alu polish stage it is just a matter or cleaning off the loosened tarnish. It should not take long and the results are great. I do not have a good photo with me but will post one later.
