CO gearing

Hello,

I am moving to Boulder, CO and curious what people run for gearing. I am in MA now and ride a 48-16 which i use for training, and running errands etc. I know it has a lot to do with the engine, but what do you guys ride?

Thanks,
John

Heya, I live in Boulder and I ride a 46x15 and it works good for me. my co workers have fixies and their gearing is a little easier but not by much. Maybe a 44x15 and 46X16...but Im not sure. we also have been doing races avery couple of weeks, so let us know when you get down here. It is getting cooler though so who knows how many more we will have during the winter.

I run a 49x16. Most people in Boulder start off pretty mild on their gear inches and then work up to about the same as everyone else. Like doco said. You should pm gobalistik or me for more information about races in Boulder.

Bikes: yes please.

just stick with 48:16 'til you get out here and see what you think. i ran that same ratio for years here in the springs, with never a need to go up or down. if i had to live to boulder, i'd probably run 48:16 there too. i do have 40:15 on my conversion, which i use more for cruising around. i sometimes ride my race ratio of 50:15 around town, but it can be a workout in the hillier parts of town... unless of course you're a MAN and live in "breck" and ride your 49:15 fixie to starbucks and back to look cool and wait for the next fad.

Except for the fact that i ride all over summit county. Because as we all know breck is like a mile long. I've never even been to the starbucks in breck. Also it's kind of hard to tell online but I was just kidding. (I'm actually going to run 44:17 on my winter bike when i move back this year.) If I lived in boulder I would most likely run 48:16.
