in the winter of 95/96, got out of nyc with my fixed. I wanted to see warm places. I greyhounded to LA and worked DTLA for four months as a bike messenger.
went to Mexico City from there (rode to TJ and took a nice bus). partied with the LA messengers the night before I left and someone gave me a cross (and said be careful), someone else gave me two hits (and said have a blast). Saved them until I got my hotel in the zocalo ($8US per night). Then dosed and hit the streets. It's a big beautiful fast and scary city, that first night will always be a wild memory. |

I did a cross race after eating a SUPER powerbar. I thought the fun would start after the race... boy was I wrong. I just pulled off the course... and laughed at all my friends as they rode by. I couldn't figure out why they kept jumping on and off of their bikes.
