i think that chocolate brown color might be pretty sweet, especially with a dark leather saddle and leather grips, but that's just me

and only don't get deep v's if you give a **** about what everyone else on this board thinks... you can either build a bike that YOU love, or try and keep up with the Jones' (good luck)

evryone that claims deep v's are too heavy should shut the $uck up unless they are racing; on a city street i love deep v's; who knows when there is going to be a pot hole, etc. that would otherwise destroy most wheels. I have been riding mine for close to a year and they are stellar, no sign of needing truing albeit they were built by one of the best wheel builders on the planet.

^^^damned straight^^^ that's why I rode Ambrosio Aero Elites messin', no vertical hops, true forever and full on bomb proof, none if these folks are gonna be ripping for a national track championship on Deep V's.

I think people are more 'comparison shopping' about the Deep V's. They look pretty cool, come in fancy colours and are bomb proof, but at the same price you could buy a better performing rim that is of the same durability... Myself, I'd prefer the extra performance if its a question between that and paying a premium for colour options.

Have the above poster Shizy, hand paint them with fine art goodness. One off's are the new black. Make mine , ...um.... oh urban camouflage.

Aren't Open Pros the same price? I think Open Pros are pretty nearly bomb proof as well as being lighter than Deep Vs. I built my first set of wheels on open pros 32 3x. 6 months later they still haven't needed a true.

Not saying the Open Pro isn't an amazing rim. I went 6 years on my aero rims though, never hard a vertical hop and I full on mashed them on occasion.

I suggest you read crowdsourcing.net religiously and follow all of the links posted. **** is moving along at light speed and is quite fascinating...

I have a feeling the whole Deep V trend may have sprung up when Deep Vs were priced more competitively. Then they got very popular, and the price went up. If they were $40-$50 rims I would think they were a great deal, but put them in the $60+ bracket, and they are competing with a lot of other really nice rims. The colors are a nice gimmick though. If the look works for you I can see some people spending money for fashion's sake. after all black anodized rims, spokes, and hubs typically cost 10 more than their plain silver counterparts, and Ben's Bikes is charging $30 to anodize their hubs in various colors. People will pay extra to get stuff in the color they want. Sometimes a LOT extra.
