Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Any sport you can grab money out of beer cans in a race is beyond low key.

amazingly enough, no one got a fat until AFTER the race. Also, I believe there were only two spills.

I was thinking about this and I've decided that cross more then any other discipline necessitates lycra... It just wouldn't be anywhere near as fun in jeans.

Tell that to this guy: (who by the way had cut the soles off a pair of clipless shoes and used drywall screws to attach them to some workboots)

He's also on an MTB with insanely low gearing which makes cross a lot less cross-like too.

I know, I know, I just thought it was an appropriate picture. The dude is wearing workboots, jeans, a t-shirt, and no helmet while flying over a pickup truck on a mountain bike. It wasnt a very serious cross race.

I am so very jealous that looks like a lot of fun.
