There's about 20 kids in the M.A.S.H. crew and I can name at least 2 that ride Aerospokes.

I guess I was referring to the trailer specificially, and the one kid with the white trispoke and pink bike.

That's Andy, and that's a Spin painted white. One I sold him actually.

Spins, if you can find them, are my second favorite "street" mag. They're not quite as heavy as Aerospokes and not quite as sturdy, but can take a beating (and I've known people to put them through hell). Spin stopped producing wheels a few years back (out of business?) but you can still spot them on ebay once in a while - usually for cheap.

So it has been said. I was just wondering if that was who Hyper is talking about.

Edit: Haha.

that said, i weight 140, ride hard, and my iro/aerohead wheel has sustained multiple beatings and is still tensioned and true as the day i got it, eighteen months ago. so i kind of feel that a well-built, smartly-built wheel is what people need.
Toadally. That's all I'm saying, is that if you ride hard, you need a good wheelbuilder, not some 2-ton anchor masquerading as a wheel. Rock aerospokes because you live in a flat city, or because you want a mag wheel without spending a lot of dough. But telling yourself you're somehow so abusive with wheels that you need special composites is just wishful thinking. This is similar to people's perceived need for 1/8" chains. If you're not snapping crank arms and pulling out of SPD-R pedals or snapping steel bars on your standing starts at stop lights, I highly doubt you'll be able to snap a 3/32" chain.

That's exactly what I was saying too.

I think that it would be best to diagnose why you are breaking wheels before you drop the money on a aerospoke wheel. There is a good chance that all you will end up with is a pricey broken wheel to add to the graveyard unless you figure out the problem. If you just think it is cool, by all means buy it though.

I'm a fan of Deep Vs.
i missed a race here too because i was working. glad to hear it was awesome.

i have a rear deep v and a race select front rim. it works. there's a guy in the shop that rides an aerospoke front. he said he got it when he was racing 5 years ago or something. they're incredibly sexy.

i've seen this riding around in the mission. not aerospoke, hella. it's b1tchin'.

This thread is now about one-upmanship.

I rock Iro/Fusion and weigh about 120 pounds more than you. I get snakebite flats on 28mm Conti Gatorskins inflated to 100+psi. I repeatedly break the loc-tite on my chainring bolts. I taco mountain bike rims, then fill them with tasty meat and eat them. (OK, maybe not the meat part.)

Lord, I wish I weighed a lot closer to 140. I get wistful thinking how easy climbing would be...

So do you weigh 260, or 340?

isn't that a HED that's been modified to reference the band hella?

schnee, I ride regular old spoked wheels, though, and haven't broken/bent one except for getting rear-ended by a car. Just to clarify.

Most likely it's a reference to the (mostly norcal, if I remember correctly) slang term, "hella". Used to modify and enhance an adjective.

Example, "That band is hella crucial!"

Mike Martin of M.A.S.H. creation fame. "HELLA" as in "hella hyphy, yadadamean?"

Hed 3's are ridiculous aero in a headwind but catch a bit too much sidewind for my tastes. Also, the carbon's always felt too lightweight to me, and the cracked 3 pic isn't surprising to me.

As an addendum, I agree with earlier sentiments about proper strong wheelbuilds and all. Carbon isn't the answer to everything, much as you ebayin' fools wish it was.
