Bern helmets?

Anyone have one of these? Only thing search turned up was the 'cool helmet' thread, which is where I saw it. I kinda dig the visored batters-helmet/WWII looking one, is it going to protect my cranium like my Bell helmet does? Is there a different set of tests for the multi-sport (Bern, Pro-Tec, etc.) and the standard road bike helmets of the world?

well, i'm no expert on the topic but i used to own a few pro-tecs back in my suburban skatepark days.
skate helmets are made the way they are to damper an impact and be re-used. bicycle helmets are made to crush under impact... so i would assume bicycle helmets lessen force a lot more.

don't go with a multi-sport helmet. if you're gonna wear a helmet wear one that will actually help you.

I have the helmet your talking about in flat black, and I love it. They are all purpose helmets made for a variety of "extreme" sports. So I have little doubt that they are adequately up to snuff on the protection factor. I don't know the specifics on helmet tests, however construction looks similar to a regular bell helmet but there is also an additional plastic shell on the outside. Its thicker than what you would normally see on a road bike helmet, probably because there are less worries of weight and aerodynamics. Also I'm making the assumption that if it can take a blow from a heavy bmx or skateboard crash it can handle a road bike crash.
The most bad ass thing about the one I got is the all season liner, it buttons right in and covers your ears, forehead and neck. Also the straps they use are made from a really soft material so it doesn't cut into your chin. Also one last sick feature is the clip on the back, so when it gets really cold and I want to ride with goggles they won't slide off. Now just so I don't sound like a bern commercial, because the paint isn't clear coated if you knock it against anything it will scuff or pick up marks really easily. But all in all I really like the helmet, its my second bern.

I hope that helps a little
