And a lot of people aren't so much afraid of being strapped in but rather dislike the hassle of strapping in and out... I've found that it especially sucks on a fg unless you lean against something every time.

re-posted from the for trade thread. these are a great example of narrow, old style touring shoes. they fit oh-so-perfectly with campy track pedals and some sort of clip/strap combo. i always wore sambas or pumas but then i got a pair of something like these and they are the absolute best.
if anybody wears sz 40 and wants them [shameless].

I just bought som of those old diadoras from nashbar, they are on sale for 30 bucks. I took off the plate from the bottom and dipped them in some plasti dip to make them rubbery on the bottom. Now I have silly cycling shoes with super stiff soles that I can actualyl walk around in without slipping allover the place.

Of course the OP singled out Nike, because Nike makes
Converse. What other company would he possibly address,
given the subject matter? You just wanted to spout some
crap about sweat-shops, as if we all thought that Adidas
were made by Santa's ****ing elves or something.

Oh, and Adidas suck now too. Puma? Don't get me started
In fact: ATTENTION ALL ATHLETIC SHOE COMPANIES. Please stop pulling this ****. If I'm going to drop $60+ on a pair of shoes they had better
- fit
- be made reasonably well
Think consumers only care about what logo is on your shoes? Think again.

I doubt it, I have only used clips and cleats a handful of times on anything other then an exercise bike in the past decade. I have absolutely zero motivation to change that since clipless do everything clips and cleats do plus more. And do it better too.
How often do you ride with cleats? How long did it take you to be able to get your your cleat into a pedal, everything situated and then tightened(really ****ing tight) while going down a 20%grade(my driveway) or a 12%(my street)?

what about something like these.....climbing approach shoes... they should be low profile they have the nice rubberized edges and should have a decently stiff sole as they are made for both hiking and climbing...
