Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

When I worked in a skate shop, we sold tons of them and I never understood why. Never liked them myself. But, I also got flow from DVS, so that was all I skated (DVS stealth). Definately wouldn't suggest the Stealths for riding in clips.

This may sound crazy, but what about leather soled dress shoes w/ some thin gel-type insoles? The leather sole would provide a pretty good semi-stiff platform without being thick and it won't snag on the pedal coming out of the clips. If you wanted a little extra grip you could put some cross-hatching on the soles with the edge of a straight file. (that's what folks used to do with their shoes)
