Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

That's why it sucks.

pretty nice idea i think. just thought i'd share.
Looks like step one in transforming into a Decepticon.

While 'Locksit' didn't win the award, apparently this little number took home a Red Dot:

Furthermore... can you imagine how many different sizes this thing would need to be offered in? How much seatpost do you need showing for the pivot-and-lock-to-wheel concept to work? What do you do about people with a only fistful of seatpost showing?

I'd love to hear what his jury thought of this idea.

I don't know why they planned it to be so ugly though. Who wants a hideous extension cord? And what about the (what looks like) LCD monitor on the plug? Wouldn't a tiny calculator display be better? How often to people look at their plugs? Wouldn't this plug just cause more energy to be wasted, and more money to be wasted because it is bound to cost a bunch? Seems like a silly idea to me.

I can't wait to see some dolt buy this, use it as a primary lock, lock the seat up to a banister, and get the bike (minus the seat) stolen.

It appears to be e-paper, which is very expensive to manufacture (right now) but actually uses no electricity while the image is static. It's an interesting idea but it doesn't go very far beyond that.

"Half-baked" is the term I'd like to use for some of this guy's stuff.
