Hahahaha. I love that you make mention of this thread having a tangent, but then go and mention George W, as if that's not going to spur another 5 pages of unrelated dribble.

Yeah liability I would think. There is some stuff that you guys (non-lbs workers) might not be aware of. Like a year ago there was a HUGE recall of faulty spokes that broke really easily. The recall just eplaced the whole wheel so we threw out most of the wheels (kept a few hubs and rims), but cut all the spokes so no one would try and ride them out of the dumpster. Could be something similar with tires, or they want you to actully support their struggling business. Just a thought

first of all, how is marilyn manson an issue outside of 1997?

second, george bush is the president in charge of the military, as in he's "legaly" in command of what they do, sure, arrest him I'm cool with that because the army can't say no, well they can but that's another issue. Charles Manson is just some crazy short dude, no one had a responsibility to do what he said, that was them thinking he was awesome. there's a huge difference between the president of the united states and a folk singer.

ok, so when you're "just being that guy" it's cool, but when I'm "just being that guy" it's not? I'll see you in a steel cage.

i actually made a run to the local beer dumpster last night only to go home empty handed. I never dig in too deep as I usually go in at night and don't want stick my hand into a pile of broken glass, but last night was particularly disappointing.

as for the bike shop cutting the tires, i'm assuming it's a liability issue. on the other hand, where i work everyone keeps the rideable tires that people ask to have thrown away. a few times a week we get roadies who throw out foldables that they didn't like and they make great spares, or even something to fuel a raging skidding habit. also, i've gotten a handful of nice stems from old folks who swap them out for incredibly tall ones so they can sit perfectly upright on their old road bikes. currently rocking a brand new nitto dynamic that i got for free from one of those scenarios.

still waiting to hear the story from the guy who got caught diving...

i've almost gotten arrested a few times for dumpster diving. completely bogus but cops always say that the dumpster is owned by (insert random business) and therefore anything in the dumpster is still theres.

It's probably best not to discuss the incident on an open forum until it's resolved. Let's just say if you've been told by a cop not to take stuff from a certain dumpster and the same cop finds you standing next to it at 10:00 PM a few months later, he's not likely to be amused.

unfortunately some cities have actually figured out a way to make standing still for a certain amount of time illegal. i've seen it in detroit and it's basically just another way for a city to screw the homeless.
