Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

It's only because I didn't take off my pants.

I was wearing my super-power spandex shorts underneath.

yes I saw the vid I am just saying when everyones drunk it turns into real fun doing roller races this was a test run in a friends garage we had about a dozen close friends by and we were all wrecked

good times keep it up and try it with the front wheel on sometime

the kid with his key on his arm works 9-5 and the races started at 6 he rode out right after work to do it..

looks fun for what it's worth.

this wasn't about riding our own bikes and making it somewhat exclusive, though. It was about getting as many people on the bikes and tearing loose.

sure, if we want to show off our balance abilities, etc - we can set one of those up. But why? I say get as many people on the bikes to race as possible.

and riding flats/on the drops is far from "right" - just sayin'
if you are in Chicago, look up IROsprints (june 23!)

Riding in the drops during a roller race is pointless. There is no aero-advantage and you can't breathe as well.

Good call on using the stands, though. I know after I get a few beers in me, I'm a little shaky to get on mine without holding on to something.

Sorry, I disagree. Getting aero isn't the only reason you'd be in the drops, I can spin better that way, and I can breathe fine. Personal preference I'd say.

yeah well riding up top helps when you wrecked puts your weight over the rear more and we had spotters to make sure noone was killed it was good times the stands are a good call it looked like you had no room for anyone to fall aver so yeah in that case do it heck atleast your doing it

Bikes: several. blue. fun.

i'm glad about the fork mounts because i'd rather the event be more inclusive. i mean, it's fine to have the usual bikey people racing, but it's more fun when EVERYONE can do it.

I agree it's nice when non-bike people can join in, or even bike people who don't know how to ride on rollers, but there is something about pure roller racing that is just so much more fun.
