Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? Fixie legs?

Since I started riding fixed last night my legs have been feeling really weird, like I can feel the motion of slowing down or skidding even if I'm just sitting on the computer. I think maybe it's just previously unused muscles in my legs feeling worked out...I have no idea. It's really strange.

I definitely have a lot more 'throbbing' in my legs when I'm just sitting around. I like to pretend that's a good thing, even if it may not be.

It's like sea legs, or when you jump on a trampoline for a long time (don't ask), it should go away. And if it does, you should have them amputated and replace with robot legs. That would be cool.

Robot legs require too much maintenance. This is why all the hipsters are going with peg legs.

I noticed the same phenomenon my first day of riding fixed. My legs felt like they were pedaling all day. Totally weird.

Its your body conforming to the addiction. Soon you will start bleeding tri-flow and miraculously living off of a diet consisting only of grease.

after my first somewhat long ride on a fixed gear.. (couple km up and down hills slowing and speeding up.. trying to get used to it) i went to a grocery store and noticed i was trying to back pedal while walking.

I was shopping at the store and my cart didn't even have a lockring! Brakeless! And the handle bar angle was *way* off.

You guys use carts while you're in the store? I thought that's what the basket on the front of the bike was for.
