Got the Wrong Wheels! What to do?
So I ordered some Wienmann DP18 on ebay. Blue Wheels on Black Formulas...long and behold when I opened the box today after picking it up at the Post Office I find that they shipped me a set of Deep V's in Blue/Black...WHOA! I counldn't believe it, so what to do...let them know or just pretend it never happend? Oh the difference is about $100.

Tell them and be honest, it's not like they're going to make you ship them back. Plus, it's good karma. Pay it forward, you know?

tell them (as most states have laws that prevent you from taking advantage of this situation, even if it was their mistake). Besides, they will prob let you keep them.

I dunno. Personally, I don't think I'd say anything. For a difference that big, they may try to get you to ship 'em back.

^^ Should they want them shipped back, they should cover that cost, and at least overnight the correct items as you should not have to wait because they screwed up.

Tell them. and if they are D-bags and want them back, just dont send them. I strongly doubt they will physically come after you for them... that way you have at least tried to rock good karma.

just be a good man and tell. so what if they ask you to send them back because after all, the weinmanns are what you ordered and you would have been perfectly happy with them if this didn't happen. i hope they will let you keep it but think of it like this. imagine you give a $20 when something cost $10 but you didn't realize and walk off. would you want that person to run after you being honest or have them say "you should have been paying attention so it's his loss?"

I would call the seller and let them know. the whole attitude promoted by some people in this thread of screwing them for making a mistake is pretty disgusting.
taking advantage of people's mistakes is not cool

I'd prob tell them and hope they let me keep'em. If not, they better send the correct ones quick and pay shipping.

I've changed my mind. 165 sort of guilted me into agreeing that you should let them know. Didn't really think of it from the seller's perspective until now.

I would let them know of the mistake. The fact that they haven't discovered the mistake probably means they do a lot of business and didn't need them for someone else. Unlike someone like ourselves that may of had two wheels and quickly discovered the mistake when they realized they saw the wrong wheel in their garage or needed to send it to someone else. It is also possible if they are a larger volume seller that they didn't have the wheel in question and decided to send a better wheel thinking they did the "right thing". In any case you are in control and if they want the wheel back make sure all of your expenses and inconveniences are covered and possibly wait for the correct wheel to arrive before sending their mistake back. As others have said it is the right thing to do to notify them and is good kharma.

I agree that the correct thing to do is call and work something out, but I also think that many of the people that have said to do that might not have if they were in the OP's shoes... but thats just a guess.

I have had things shipped to me wrongly and each time, I have responded accordingly. I would hope that if the same error occured when I shipped something that the recipient would be good enough to do the same.
getting "over" on someone else is a very low act. it really says a lot about the person. remember that next time you need help if that is the course you choose.

Yes, it's their mistake, and if they want the wheels back, it's up to them to make it right. I wouldn't send the wheels back until you get the ones you ordered, and I'd hope they'd ship em out pretty fast. If it takes you a week longer to get the wheels you ordered that's a pretty big inconvenience, and I'd hope a reputable seller would consider that especially since you'd be helping them to fix a mistake. THey may just prefer to have you keep the wheels considering the hassle and expense of shipping 2 more sets of wheels, and the inconvenience for you the customer. After all once they've paid for shipping both ways, how much of that $100 difference have they lost? Is that difference worht the ill will of a customer who as to wait another week for their order?
Anyway, I'd do the right thing, and hope the seller does all they can to make it as painless as possible. If they don't do a good job of taking care of mistakes when they happen I simply wouldn't do business with them again.

if you ordered deep Vs and they sent you dp18s, what would you do?
just because you paid for the less expensive item and got the more expensive one shouldnt change this outcome.

I'd call to let them know.
I bet that there's going to be a post pretty soon stating that someone ordered some Deep-V's with formulas and got some Weinnman's instead. Karma's a tetherball with spikes.

their cost difference on those rims is probably $40, max.
it would cost them more to deal with all the shipping/nonsense, than it would to write it off.
enjoy your 80pound rims.
