So I saw the SE "Draft" single-speed street bike at Performance this evening. Does anyone have one? (I didn't find anything when I searched the forums.) They are so weird I just wanted to see if anyone has actually ridden one.. I think their OM Flyer looks like more fun.

LOok at the gap between the down tube and the tire. Puke. I hate that geometry. They could have made it look good.

They are heavy as I don't know what. 1 piece crank. That being said, it feels like the adult version of the cheap bmx bike your parents bought u when u were a kid that u rode the tires off of. I wish it came out pre-winter because for 200 bills isn't too bad for a winter/bad weather beater but in Chi, the winter's over but we still have plenty of bad weather to look forward to. But that's all that I would use it for. This is definitely not a main ride bike. Personally I like the fact that it's heavy, it has that feel that u could just dent and ding the heck out of it.

What is the target market for the Draft anyways? I can't figure it out.

It looks like a practical commuter/around-town bike, except it's missing the rear rack, and bell, and lights, and fenders, and gears, and...

Yes, it probably is, considering that the kids I see riding them are. It's a straightforward singlespeed road bike with ****ty components, but considering the people buying them are not cyclists and are just commuters, then it isn't much of an issue.

As long as it stays together I don't have a problem. I'm all about companies making simple, inexpensive bikes.
As soon as I hear of one falling apart, I'll get pissed. This probably won't be long from now knowing the quality of perf's builds.

Ugh I have sold a bunch of these. We are going to be getting the Lager (fixie) and the Stout (29er) in in a couple of weeks - hopefully I'll feel better selling those to people. Frankly I wouldn't be caught dead on one.

Dude, I feel the same way. I tell the customer exactly what they're getting. Crap. Have you ever built one from the box? The stem is complete garbage... it should almost be against the law to make those. We have the Lager's in stock... they're way better. $440 is a tougher sell, but the bullhorns are what people go for. The frame is about 10 lbs. lighter too. Have you seen the tan/brown color schemes on them? Pretty sweet looking. I haven't seen a Stout yet, don't think there's much of a market for them here.

They are extra terrible. No fun yanking that monstrosity out of the box and trying to make it tuned and presentable. We've been experimenting with the handlebars on them - I've chopped some, put moustache bars on another... people love them.

Yeah the Lagers definitely are prettier but I won't say a word about them until I get my hands on one.

Just to throw this out there... by no means am I saying the Lager is awesome either. But when compared to a Draft, it is.

Also, we've sold 4 of them. Three were sold before they even hit the floor. People LOVE THEM.

Anyone know the BCD on the lager's stock cranks? It looks tiny. It'd be fun to get one close to 1:1, but not for five hundred bucks.

Sure it's ugly as it sits, but picture it with baskets, fenders, moustache bars and a nice Brooks. With that geometry it would look like an old English 3 speed and weigh a lot less. If it's fixed and not just SS, I'd buy one if I had 200 bucks sitting around.
