I got a 70's (74 or 76, I can't remember) Raleigh International, all original, full Campy group, for $5.

My SLR XP for $40, brand new.
Thomson seatpost for $40, brand new as well.

Today at the thrift store I got some Pearl Izumi shorts, and some cold weather insulated tights for $3 each.

Even if you never seem to be in the right place to pick up vintage C Record for nothing, you can still score awesome deals on bike clothes at the thrift store. I got a merino base layer at my thrift for $4 (my best deal ever); an izumi jerz for $3 and some MEC insulated tights for $2. All just about brand new! I refuse to buy used bike shorts though. It's worse than used underwear because at least guys don't go out of their way to grind their sweaty nuts and *******s into their underwear for hours.

Yeah, I've found some sweet jerseys at the thrift store too.
I'll just wash the shorts and wear em... it's not a big deal to me.

73 Schwinn Paramount P13 complete but not together, 76 Paramount P14 track (everything there except a wheelset), and a huge box of vintage road/track parts (70's era high flange Campagnolo hubs, skewers, seat posts, shifters, f & r derail. , two pairs of Campagnolo track pedals, two Cinelli steel track drops, old steel adjustable track stem, and much more) for $330. Best part of it both Paramounts are jumbo 25" frames. MY SIZE!!!!

The best one before that was a 73 Raleigh Record Ace complete bike in great original condition. I bought it for $24 at an estate sale and sold it for $250 on Ebay with a freewheel that didn't freewheel anymore and two flat tubular tires. I kept the Brooks Pro that was on it also and just picked one out from the parts bin to put on it.

I just got this..officially my last cause I don't think I can beat the deal I got it for and the quality of this frame, not a cinelli but damn....real close

early 70's italian all the way, nicely thinned lugs with cutouts, nicely mitered inside bb, campy drops.. never rode outdoors..all chromed and awesome blood red translucent paint that glows in the sun

price was way,way less than a surly

I got my early 80's guerciotti track frame and fork, specialized headset, NOS cinelli frog stem and criterium bars, sugino bottom bracket, sugino super mighty track crankset, sugino chainring and campy seatpost binder bolt for $450 on ebay last year.

I think the best deals i've gotten is finding track frames in 63-64cm sizes, so far i've found two.

Not so much fixed related, but I bought out almost a complete Schwinn shop for about 500. I am talking all tools for a functioning bike shop, 2 old Schwinn stands (the 200 lbs. ones), NOS everything you can imagine, wheels, etc. I could build up 5 or 6 NOS Varsities or Continentals out of parts. It's not all heavy stuff some things are newer parts but there are some real collectors pieces that are still in original boxes. It's a long story but another bike shop pretty much shut this place down and the guy was old and bitter and nobody was there for the closing, so I got everything for percents of a penny on the dollar.

Sold it on Ebay for 750 because it was way too big for me, but I couldn't pass up the deal.
I think I just vomited a bit in my mouth.

Filled up a Honda Civic's interior and trunk twice with frames, parts, rims, wheels, etc from a bike shop that had shut down in Hackensack and was being cleaned out. I had made friends with the cleaning crew hired to clean out the store and they let me take whatever I wanted for free unless it was already spoken for by members of the crew. There was still a crapload of stuff that i wasn't able to get.. I feel so bad too!

Free @ dump:

1983 peugeot carbolite 103 original in mint condition (well, one bar cap was not original).
1973 Schwinn Collegiate Touring.
198? SuperSport.

Paid a little for these:

$3 Schwinn World minus wheels.
$2 Bianchi with bent rear triangle and shimano 600
$10 Miyata with shimano 600 arabesque (or however you spell it) group.
$10 Sears cruiser w/gastank.

Free Dropoff from neighbors:

196? Columbia Cruiser w/coaster.
197? Free Spirit (now part of tallbike).

Only bike I really spent money on:

$100 196? Peugeot upgraded to triple crank w/modern wheels and couple new parts.

Plus a ton of huffy/murray/pacifica/next that got chopped up.

i placed an order for some parts from first flight bikes
https://www.firstflightbikes.com/frames/VintPart.htm

they have white nylon christophe straps at 3 pairs for $12, you can still buy them. i kept one pair and sold the other two on ebay. the auction ended at $42. never understood that.

All From the Local Thrift Store next to my work:

BRIDGESTONE ROAD BIKE: It had Campy cranks, wheelset (Campy rims and hubs!), brakes, brake levers, and front (double) and rear (7 speed) derailleurs. The seat post, stem, and headset are the only things not Campy. It was $30, I'm gonna sell the frame as it is way too big and keep the parts

SCHWINN VOYAGEUR: Top of the line touring bike from 1985? Front and rear rack mounts. Came with rear rack, nearly brand new Brooks Professional and Campagnolo rear derailleur. $15

TREK ROAD BIKE: 1980s? 10 speed, red, Shimano parts. $2.50. It was half off day (originally $10) and then the computer screwed up and took half off twice and the clerk didn't feel like futzing with it.

GARY FISHER MARLIN: 1999 I believe. Has front Suspension, Made it into an Single Speed, looks nearly new. $5.
