How does the Rush Hour compare to the Madison? I like the looks of the Madison a lot more.
|
probably very similar. if the madison had been out a year ago, i probably would have went with that. did you also see that the madison's fork is all chrome? (you just need to strip the paint)

The bikes nice too. i am a huge fan of all 80's bmws but the e30's especially unfortunately as you know, or are soon going to find out, they are a ***** to work on and parts are expensive |
Iv had the same issues with mine as everyone else. Rode it for six days and the rear hub stripped. Im currently waiting on a new rear wheel. The clear coat is certainly sub-par; couple chips here and there. Other than that, the bike is wonderful. I have had no regrets, the ride is perfect.

I was outside last night practicing skidding on the Rush Hour for the first time, and I started to feel some slippage in the rear hub. This morning, riding to work, I had a few more slips, so I took it to my LBS, and had everything all tightened up. A few metal filings, but I didn't strip the hub completely. IF YOU HAVE A RUSH HOUR, GET YOUR LOCKRING TIGHTENED.
|
once you have the cog and lockring on there nice and tight DON"T PUT A NEW ONE ON!
just switch out the chainring if you want to adjust your gearing |
I believe I have made the decision to buy a new Rush Hour at my LBS. I can pick it up for 450. It is an 07 model as well. I am going to finance it though. My lady frowned when I said I was buying a new bike, especially because we have a wedding to pay for in 2 months. So the financing will even out the expense over time. I cant wait to get it though.

nothing but good so far. Heres a review by dirtragmag

Ok, after reading that last review by dirtragmag, I got the impression that the Rush Hour has a slight track geometry. Is it a track geometry or a more road geometry? I am almost sold on this bike. I may buy it tomorrow.

you need a better job |

haha. seriously though i have a ****ty retail job, but if i was going to buy a bike i would save up for a month and drink less beer. voila $450

i really like the frame and the geometry a lot. i got an 06 model and yea my rear hub did strip but i built up a new wheelset...i didnt like the stock crank due to the fact that they were 175 crank arms and they had a lot of flex...i replaced my fork with a carbon fork which lightened the bike up a lot and smoothed it out even more on the street..i stuck with the same rake on the fork so the handling is pretty much the same as before...basically the only thing i have left of my rush hour is my frame..but i do love the frame a lot..the stock components are good but i guess it just came down to personal preference with me and just like stated before make sure u get ur lock ring tightened..

my lbs has the rush hour going for $400 -- so it's kinda my main focus for a new fg/ss too.
now i'd like to think that i'm a pretty decent welder, how hard would it be to add my own fender eyelets? |
search for hks raceblades
they are fenders that go on without mounts, not as effective as standard fenders but the do ok |

Other than that, she isnt too picky :)
I love the simple equations the best... |

Well after 2 weeks my bike finally came in. I put about 5 miles on it tonight just running around the neighborhood and down to the local coffee shop. I love the bike, it's definitely geared to be a great commuter and not so much a great track bike. We have a velodrome... i mean mellowdrome here in asheville. It was an old race track that was converted to a velodrome but doesnt have such steep banks. I wanna start riding there so i might have to re-gear, but i totally love the bike. Here is a quick photo i snapped tonight.

i think most people, myself especially, would say that it is the exact opposite |
When i get any speed my legs are movin so fast it's crazy. I tackled a few hills and was suprised at how easy it was to climb. I cant explain. Maybe i'm a freak or something. i can live with that.
