Romic Track Frames?

I never hear a lot about Romic frames. Are they any good? Like the old lugged steel track frames?

I have a Romic sport touring frame, they were well respected frames made in Texas and the builder was very conservative, apparently they were not known for the best paint, the one on mine is fine, You'll have much better success searching for track frame info.

Conservative like politically, or like a retro-grouch? You know where in Texas?

I've seen this post up awhile, I waited, expecting answers. I remember seeing them sold by "mail order", establishments before the internet was such as it is. Romic was a decidely high-end bike, it was UP there I had supposed it was Austrian, Swiss ,Dutch,Belgian, the name, market place, meening it cost more than I was spending at the time.

this is from a german website from a guy named chris timm:

Romic is a Houston-based frame builder. The original owner, Ray Gasiorowski, passed away Nov. 16th, 1996, though AFAIK the company still builds frames. Judging from the bikes I have seen and ridden, they build great steel road and track frames. The rental bikes at the Alkek Velodrome sport beautiful Mavic cranks and hubs.

The bikes are still in use today. I used one of their rental bike both during my year in Kingwood in 1988/89 (racing for the Woodlands Cycling Club) and at UT 1996/97 (racing for the UT Cycling Team and Team Bank United / Loco Velo).

Romic can be contacted at:
Romic Cycle Co., Inc.
4434 Steffani Lane
Houston, TX 77041
Phone 713.466.7806

edit:
apparently the address has changed
according to another website...

Romic Cycle Co., Inc.
22806-T Industry Ln.
Tomball, TX 77375

Loved my Romic, but sold it off last year. All the one's I've seen were 531 (except I think somebody posted a photo of a weird aero-tubed bike) and had pretty nice lugwork. This one had Suntour track ends, but others had Campy.
Sorry if you've seen this before, but I like to share.

Tanks mang. Sadly, those parts are part of the Romic diaspora now. I will always love that bike. You can't tell from the photo but it was a super crazy green/gold flip-flop sparkle.

Ah, and Chub hubs suck.

I bought a 90's track last year for my beater...I was surprised when I got it..90's mavic bb, sweet mavic crank, original mavic hubs and headset, stem and seatpost all built by ray himself for the lady I bought it from...she was the velo manager for 40 years and sent me a graeat story about ray and the velodrome ... ray built the track bike for her and put some special extras in for her..nice riding bike, campy drops, 531...

I have a romic. It's ****ing money as hell. love it love it love it.
Most all were built with renolds. Mine has a "columbus" but columbus never made a tube set or lugs like mine. the seat tube is kinda slack so it makes it awesome to ride long distance but still performs great.
Here da picsss:

its all campy now tho.....
and just for giggles

Romic wasa my life

I still own my pursuit / timetrial bike complete from 95. They were good friends and treated me well sponsering me. They were verry old school Polish...hench the polish emblem. It was a shame for Ray to pass away many years back...I actually went to the funeral in Tomball , Texas. They built great crafted bikes...He always cared in what i wanted tubing wise. I also have one of the last of his...I have been out of track for a bit , but they were kind enough to donate all of the rental bikes for the Alkek Velodrome in Houston , which is falling apart. But to anyone who still rides steel ant tripple toe/strapps...my kudoes...and if you still got one..keep it.....O and that guy who was confused about his Romic w/ the world champ stripes and the gay...sorry ...they were arrow spoke..that I believe was a bike from the former team EDS ...it had much more trick equipement origonally..My jr . pursuit team almost spanked it against them..I believe it is still a record..anyone feel me?
