Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

I don't believe my fixed gear has been condemned to hell but I do speak English. That's probably not any help though.

Nope. What's the problem, having a hard time finding fixed gear savvy bike shops?

Learn Italian. Roma has many English speakers, as opposed to the number of Italian speakers in the US.

I think the OP forgot the rest of the phrase.

I just met two guys in Roma named Raphael and Paolo at the Piazza Santa Maria in Trastavere on Sunday night. I think they gather there weekly at midnight. I rode with them later in the week with two other nice fellas: John and Edward, both native English speakers who also speak Italian. All really good guys. For shops with track parts, head south.

PS: Sto studiando l'italiano. However, I haven't gotten my ITALIAN 201 - FIXED GEAR ITALIAN FOR BEGINNERS in the mail yet and I thought I'd try asking helpful people in the forum. Also, thanks for that link!

I lived in trastevere last summer for two months. That is my favorite spot in Rome. I did see two ss/fgears while I was there. One guy rode a red framed ss I believe. I do speak some italian. Tell them voglio un fixed gear adante tutti a fanculo. That will work just fine...ha. What were you doing in Trastevere? Vacation or do you live there?
