Brooks Ripoff

I bought a Brooks professional that was advertised as brand new on ebay, never used Professional. It turns out that the saddle is a Professional "B" (womens shape) and has been well ridden in bad weather for probably 3 months. I told the guy this and he thought i was just being picky. He offered to take it back if i pay for shipping both ways, but now he wont even email me back. I paid 71 plus 10 in shipping. Pro "B"'s always go for less so i think i am going to get screwed even if i try to sell it back on ebay, no way i am going to try and slip this past soemone else the same way. Worst part about it is it is well used and he is convinced it has never been ridden, each rivet is browning with light cracks, scruffs on top from tire change, and definent seat post mounting scratches. What do i do, any one want it, re-post it or deal with ebay 30-90 day dispute manager?

File a compaint with ebay and paypal if you used it. If the auction listed the saddle as a professional B then it's not disputable. As far as the condition, if he said it was new and it turns out to be used I would have no less than a full refund plus the shipping to get it back to him. Ebay and Paypal are very helpful IMO. Good Luck

Offer him a way out before things get nasty
"hey... listen... I'd rather deal with this personally rather going to ebay and paypal to speak to a dispute manager. It'll be best for both of us... "

Give him a deadline ... and if he doesn't help... then alert other BF members about who this seller is...

You could always... enlist some help from the forum... I've done this with positive response elsewhere... your mileage may vary...

"hey... since I can't seem to get in touch with you.... I've got a relative/ buddy/ LEO friend of mine living in (insert town). I can have him stop by the address you provided to see if we can work out some kind of deal."

Dead beat sellers have called minutes after receiving the email. It's not a threat... It's more like saying... "I know where you live... now answer your ******* email!"

Not at all overly picky. E-bay only exists because most people are very honest. A pox on those who aren't.

Clayborne, if nothing good comes of this and you still want a Pro I can put you in touch with a Brooks distributor buddy of mine in the USA who will give you some form of a deal on a brand spanking new, boxed, color of your choice, chrome or copper rail saddle.

hey if it doesn't work out with the seller i wouldn't worry too much and just ride it..
if it's not busted a brooks will last a long time and even if you got a brand new saddle it would've become used pretty fast

plus, this one is pre-softened

the seller does sound like a bum though

Because one persons version is better than hearing both sides.

i am a male and this saddle is for a female anatomy.
Any prolonged usage would crunch my stuff. I might take up the offer on a new one, Thanks. I will post
the user name later.

make a special account, bid on all his auctions, and give him 234 negative feedback. Poop in a box and send it to him from a PO in a different state 3 years from now when you're on vacation.

marketing is an amazing concept. Trust me you wont turn into a girl. Its just wider (barely wider than the 'male' b17, and less wide than the 'male' b-67), and has a shorter nose so you can wear a skirt.

if i were screwed in the end, i wouldnt hesitate to ride the thing. its just a seat. and prolly a darn comfortable one at that.

Reiterating what Stevo said, it's wider and shorter because girls have wider hips, and pelvises are built differently. You can ride on that. Your junk will not suddenly fall off.

Bikes: Trash... for serious.

I'm sure he can ride it. However he will not be as comfortable and will still not have gotten what he paid for. If he wanted a female saddle, he would have bid on one...

My girlfriend rides one, and it's too short for my taint when I have to pedal her bike.
