Whats up with making deliveries to the House/Senate/capitol buildings? Someone said that you have to a special "pass" in order to deliver to the offices directly and in order to get it you have to pass a police check. Is this true. If so whats the check. DC police, Capitol Hill police, ect. what do they look for. Just wondering because I have some stuff from like 22 years ago and was wondering if this will come up especially if a fed agency does it.

Dude I messed from 1990-1996. Just got back into the game today with a good spot. No tags/commision. Straight up hourly with full benefits....vacation, medical, paid holidays, ect. Just need to know where to look and how to apply. its not a courier company but a company that does a lot of work so instead of paying a courier company they brought in their own bikers. Saves money. Its not hard. Find a company that does a large volume of work esp. bike and make a proposal to be the in house biker. saves them money in the long run. Going back to get my vet tech license and when I get that I'll move on

It wasn't meant as an insult really, just suprised that many older people hang out on forums. I'd never seen it until i started posting on BF.
And especially since it's not like this forum is full for 40 year old track racers either, which i would have expected moreso than 30-40 year old messengers.

Messed in DC from 89-@93ish. Used to be you just checked in at the bldg's designated entrance for messrs, they'd scan your bag, give you a pass (forget how long it was good for), and you went on your merry way. Some other gov't buildings would make you used the "seperate but equal" entrance, ie the loading dock, but the House and Senate bldgs were pretty straightforward.

you generally can't go into the specific buildings. you need to wait out front and call (or have your dispatcher call) the specific office you're delivering to. if you have a bunch of stuff you can take it to the delivery trailer at 2nd and D.

the company I'm working for is a court reporting/transcribing company and the guy I'm replacing has the pass and so forth. Apparently I have to go to the Capitol police HQ and have my fingerprints taken and they run the check and decide to issue the pass or not. Thanks to Bush and his iron fist

I've got one of those badges for working under the capitol building in the new visitors center. I got my badge at E st and South Capitol st in south west. Finger print, retnal scan... Alot of people I work with have messy pasts, and they're getting on site no problem, so I wouldn't be to worried, especially if the company you're applying through is a respectable place.
**edit**
by messy I meant federal records, not messenger...
