Spring time clothes for commuting
So I have no fashion sense and need to look half-way presentable for work and school. Anyone have any tips for clean, non-descript clothes that you can commute with in warm weather?
Normally I just wear black or blue khaki pants with a rolled up pant leg (with a straight cut- a narrower leg opening means less material for your crankset to catch). And either a flannel shirt or hooded sweatshirt depending on the weather. I prefer long sleeves because of the sun exposure day after day.
Any tips? I've never liked bike specific or athletic clothes for riding. Looks too much like a gatorade commercial. Thanks for the help.

Dude, you can just use Bikerfox this early in a thread. You need to wait til things escalate to that point. It's like skipping the trade embargo and just nuking someone. You must use Bikerfox carefully and with restraint.

I ride in Dockers shorts and a white Henley (button neck) T-Shirt.
I have a drawer full of white Henley T-Shirts.
I should put numbers on them, or days of the week, so people will know I change my shirt now and then.
I also wear ankle height cotton socks, which I think look better with shorts.
If I have an important meeting with someone who doesn't understand shorts and bikes, I roll up a pair of cotton trousers in my newspaper boy bag and change wherever I can.
It takes less than a minute.

I prefer wearing only jockstraps... it makes the nuts on the stem skids a lot more comfortable.

Anything microfiber. There are a number of companies that make "moisture wicking" shirts in polo styles (underarmour, nike, adidas). I have a few of the aforementioned shirts that I nabbed at the outlets and they work great. You show up to work drenched and nobody can tell. Few minutes later your shirt is bone dry. As far as shorts/slacks...not sure what to tell you.

BTW,
What's with all of the sarcastic replies? Is it that he posted in the ss/fixed forum? Or that anyone that doesnt wear cut-off carharts and extra-medium t-shirts to work is not deserving of a decent answer?

i just wear a dark t-shirt and some pants/shorts/shants. if you don't want to wear cycling-specific clothes, which are actually damn nice, there's not much else to do except for investing in some nice light wool clothing.

On the cheap, I'm a massive fan of the poly/cotton standard issue military tee shirts. They dry fast, they're comfy, and they're non-descript. Lots of bike attire is fully synthetic and great for long ride comfort. But it tends to pill if you ride with a bag, and in my experience it also stinks more when the sweat dries on. The military tees cut back on pill and stink -- handy if you're stepping off the bike and into the real world. I've never tried wool, though ....

most companies will make a loose fitting jersey that looks more like a long sleeve shirt... if your looking for UV protectant stuff, REI carries hiking shirts that look like normal button up but ment to be used while active. dickies are a good all around pant for riding that can look halfway presentable as well.

Target stores have very reasonable prices on 100% polyester jerseys. The link actually shows a long sleeve jersey. However they have short sleeve jerseys also.

The long sleeve has one pocket that zips up to carry stuff in. This jersey is very comfortable. My other Jerseys are all Hind Jerseys from perfomance bike.
