Paul e-lever peeps

Are they worth the money? I don't like hanging crap parts on my bike but fifty bux for a lever seems a tad steep. However, what the hell is the alternative? Taiwan Tektro? Ack.

And i need a brake. I live in Miami, there is no logic or flow to the traffic here.

I checked it out in a shop the other day, but passed. Just went with a $20 Cane Creen Crosstop that is much nicer looking IMO even if it's not as low profile (I think they are something like $30 a pair, just sell your extra). Rumour has it the Paul doesn't even work that well, but don't quote me on that - try the search.

There was a uniquely vicious thread centering on this a couple months ago. Good times. Check the search.

Just a heads up to the OP, Tektro makes Cane Creek brake products so if you are looking for a better deal for the same item and are not bothered by the brand, the items are almost identicle.

By design it's not fantastic. I would just go with a cross lever.

By the way, don't you guys agree that Cane Creek / Tektro should start selling their cross levers individually? I almost bought a set but I didn't want to drop $30 for one lever on a bike and one in my toolbox.

Bikes: surly Karate Monkey and Cross Check

I have been running one for a few months. What I like about the lever is that it is low profile. Run next to the stem it is like it is not there (sort of). It feels great, set up properly it feels really nice. I have big hands and I use two fingers on it no problem all of the time.

Cons: it really only fits good on 25.4 bars. I had it on a 26 but the stock bolt would not reach- thats pretty lame. No hinge- also lame. Verdict- Its overall pretty good, probably not any better then anything else though. But I think it does look better then most of the other options.

+1 on individual levers. My shop was cool about it and just sold me a single for half the price of the set (they just took it out of the box).

and that's why more people should use LBS's... I love going in to mine to buy a tool, and they'll sell me one they've been using in the shop for half price (or even less sometimes).

i used the left lever for my good fixie, and used the right one uk style on my townie. i bought the tektros simply because i don't ever use my brakes, and couldn't justify spending more for the canes. when compared side by side, they look the same. and when i need them for ebraking, i am sure they will work just fine.

but yeah, they should sell them individually. most people aren't building up multiple bikes like i was at the time...

My shop was lame as hell when I wanted to buy just a front brake caliper. $25 for half of a $35 set. Way to go ******bags. I shouldn't have bought it...
