i don't see why everybody got so worked up about the ****ty picture that made it look ultra teal.
it was blown out like crazy, you could tell it wasn't an accurate depiction of the colour. |
i agree completely with 2am, tony has no clue how to run a business.
|
also, i wish i got the blue now. that looks really good
|
now i just hope my buddy still ends up selling me his blue frame.
|
my blue 56cm 1" shipped yesterday, slated to be here 7/10. other than being too broke to build it up properly, i am so stoked! that blue is nice, but if it fits me, i'm totally getting it powdercoated. mmm, flat brown...

yeah i agree! it seems he's more interested in giving back to the cycling community and just making a living than milking every nickel from it. what a crappy businessman! stupid post. |
Josh, I couldn't have put it better myself.

I just unwrapped my blue frame and the color, in my opinion is really nice but it doesn't look anything like the IRO 5/28 LC picture or the original example or even leadlegs shot. It is definitely teal in color. I can see why the photos don't come out.the finish is extremely high gloss, any direct flash will wash out. you would have to back light it or take a shot outside. Unfortunately my wife has both our digital cameras on a trip and I won't be able to take a picture until the weekend, by then it will be built, hopefully. but my frame paint is flawless ,very, very nice. thanks all who put the group buy together!!!
Edit: make that more of a blue variant closer to turquoise not as dark as teal |
i kinda wish i got the green now SO I CAN RIDE IT!
can't wait for my black. all my parts are in at my bike shop (sugino rd, nitto ct-80, nitto rb-018, brooks b17, dura ace / eai, et cetera) and i havn't been on a bike since crucial parts of my conversion finished their downward spiral to destruction about two months ago. i'm not being impatient... i just don't have a bike and i'm itching to feel the wind in my golden locks. |
Just got my confirm for a black frame.
Thanks a lot Tony, you really bent over backwards for us. Know that while there may be a few turds that will always complain, there are plenty of us that know that you went above and beyond here, and appreciate everything that you have done. Cheers my friend, and congrads on the child to come. |

I just unpacked my green, threadless, 56cm frame. Here are my impressions:
1. The green is pretty close to what I'd call "British Racing Green". It looks very nice and I think my plan for silver components will be a good one. I'd give the finish about an 8 out of 10 (with 10 being unachievable). It's mostly very good, but there is a little transport wear on the bottom bracket and the area behind the seatstays on the downtube is a little rough. These are NOT complaints. It's perfectly acceptable for a frame in this price range and those little things won't be noticed when it's built. There are no runs or thin spots that I can see. 2. The rear spacing looks like ~122mm, but that could be because I'm using a crappy ruler. 3. The frame weights 4 pounds, 3 ounces. The fork weighs 2 pounds 5 ounces BUT the steerer tube is nearly a foot long. Once cut, it will lose a lot of weight. I guess if someone wanted to find the balance point, measure the length, and do some math, one could calculate how much weight/inch the frame will lose once the steerer tube is cut, but I'm not going to bother with that. 4. There is a serial number stamped on the bottom bracket. The format appears to be "I" (for IRO, I assume), "07" (for the year), "E" (for the month of manufacture, May) and a 4 digit serial number. 5. There are no decals, logos, etc, not even on the headtube. 6. The fork has lawyer tabs, but Mr Dremel & I will fix that ASAP. 7. The welds have very small beads, much smaller than the welds on my Bianchi San Jose. There is a reasonable heat-affected area on the inside of the headtube where the top & down tubes are welded, so I think the welds are good. (I do welding & metalworking as a hobby so while I'm no expert, I do have some idea of what to look for.) If I get time tomorrow I'll try to post some photos. This frame seems, to me, like a very good value. (We have to remember that that is what it is: a "value" frame, not a high-end piece.) I'm pleased. I missed most of the pre-order discussion. Can anyone tell me why the water bottle bosses are on the seat tube instead of the downtube? It's not important, I'm just curious. |

lawyer tabs are the raised tabs on the fork ends that prevent your wheel from falling off if the nuts become slightly loose, or if the quick release flips open.

Left the office at 444pm... just got home at 610pm... just opened my email... delivery confirmation for 7/5...
WAY COOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
^^named so because the lawyers made them do this ;)
|
Now i just need to save up for:
1. green and copper brooks saddle 2. mavic 33 wheels laced to formula hubs 3. bottom bracket |
I just got my frame today. welds are nice, clean, and small. i love the color. im actually pretty unhappy about all the gashes in the paint though...
