Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

peugeot conversion

Got this photo from a guy who wants to sell the bicylce for $50. Does anyone know if this particular peugeot would make a good single-speed conversion? I know french bicycles are sometimes tricky for parts, but I don't know enough about peugeots to tell from the photo what model this is; I'm guessing mid-eighties. Anyone have any advice?

You need to find an image host or use the Insert Image function (it's up top of the edit message box, next to the comic word balloon).

I have a peugeot conversion...but tonight I broke the chain off while going up a hill...sucked bad, and no streetlights...

You can convert almost any bicycle ever made to single speed. Just because it talks in a funny accent don't mean it always to carry the ball and chain we call gears.

Bikes: ...take me places.

putain de saloperie!!

I bought my '85 Peug Ventoux in 1988 & it's still hanging in there.
Only 1 weld job in 19yrs & it just happened.
Guess riding off-road wasn't the best thing for it.

It's worked out well as a singlespeeder & fixed.
Although the P.O.S. Vuelta hub couldn't handle it. (note to self: avoid Vuelta)

Back to coasting until the Steamroller is put together.
