Bidded for a tubular tyres...and i discovered that there are gap between the wall of the tyres and the rims tape thingo does it matter??

what do u mean by macro mode??

on your camera. we can't see a thing.

He or she means that the rim strip is kinda coming off. Try gluing it on better with some latex glue.

Better yet, try posting this in road cycling, vintage, or bicycle mechanics. They know that stuff better.

Looks like a phone cam. But yeah Macro mode is usually like a little flower, and its a mode which preps the cam for close ups.

My bad. Yerr the base tape is kind of peeling off, I wonder would that effect much or jsut glue it back one??

Tubulars are sooo cheap just get 2 new ones... or ride those till they rip off the rim.

I'm certainly no expert, but I've rode tires that looked like
that before and I've never had any problem. I think that,
once the glue sets, you're more or less ok.

If only I am in euro. Over here in Aussie the one I got if i get it brand new would be 85AUD in my LBS. Bike products and services are so expensive over here.

Vittorias clinchers are what i prefer to run for 12eu on my fixie, cause they are pretty cheap.

Do they work well, when you consider the price? do they puncture easily?

I rode brakeless till i striped the lock ring threads (ie lots of skidding) and they were just fine, and no punctures. If you pump your tires just right its not too easy to get a flat.

I love riding tubular, the feel and the look.

anyone know if the tufo tape works with other brands, i got some for my tufos... oh man it is easy as pie. 2 minutes and the tire is on and ready yo ride. got tired of getting the glue on my rims, i am sloppy and lazy.

For what it's worth, I think that Continental Giros are worthless
piles of crap.

i mounted a continental gatorskin sprint on the rear w/ regular tufo tape (the first time i used tape). seems not as solid as glue, but so far no probs after a couple months, but yeah, supposedly it's not recommended to mix'n'match brands.

I have been using the extreme tape, it seems to have a LOT more stick.. yeah, the regular seemed sort of weak.. but if you haven't had a problem with the regular, i have hope. don't really want to drop the bucks on anymore tufo, i had one puncture and can't fix it...and not really wanting to go back to glue either...

tape has spoiled me.

The base tape can be re-glued, but careful to use the right glue. The wrong glue can seep through the casing and onto the latex innertube - and when you pump it up the latex rips open with an almighty bang.

For day to day riding on the street, a base tape in that condition is no big deal - just don't go crazy on corners. But for racing - especially track - get new tyres.

Not really a problem but inspect them to make sure the tape is not coming off completely in certain spots.

Reinspect it if it rains or the tires get wet.

i had some [admittedly 20 year old] continentals in that condition, which were fine for a while, but became distinctly dicey when the weather got warmer, the glue started softening and the hills got steeper.

i'd recommend some new tyres or atleast regluing the base-tape.

i found vittoria rallyes [£10ish] to be lumpy and slidey in the corners. they also don't have replacable valve cores, which is important if your pump has a habit of eating to tops of the valves. it means you'll need to replace the whole tyre for the cost of a valve core [£1?]

tufos [£20] are much better in the corners and i haven't had any flats despite the amount of glass and crap on the roads here.

i haven't used tufo regular tape, but the extreme tape is unbelievably solid. it took me about half an hour to get a tyre off the rim. [feel free to interpret that as a good/bad thing]
