need some help with the "h" word
alright,
I have to create a powerpoint presentation for a college class. Any topic is open, I just have to keep it "G" rated. I thought that hipsters on fixed gear bikes would be informative yet amusing. please either post or pm me with information and pics or video about the "co-opting of fixed culture" or something like that thanks |
Isn't the point to do your own research and form your own opinion? And isn't there way more information available here already than you can use?
You sound like a lazy person. |
lazy muther****in hipster!
what is the class ? powerpoint 101 for christs sake think of all of the valid and beautiful topics you could choose |
ha
or maybe i'll just do something on how to build your own fixed gear and i may be a little lazy, but it was more about conglomerating the wit and dry humor that abounds on this forum all into one convenient location from which I could sample until I was sick of it maybe I am just lazy |
There ain't no maybe about it.
|
i will help you create a best of bfssfg power point but i doubt if you will pass the class
|
Wouldn't it be a counter--culture?
|
counter to what? using one gear is counter to using more gears?
|
counter to not wearing girl pants
|
^^ There's one for the bullet point proficiency requirement, OP!
|
that is a college assignment? I went to a hippie school, and **** was harder than that.
|
at what point will the presentation devolve into random photoshoped images and long winded diatribes about brakes vs no brakes?
|
what about doing something that actually EDUCATES people about this aspect of cycling. You know - research "safety" bicycles, Marshall Taylor, the first velodromes, speculation on when/where/why track bikes emerged as a popular mode of transportation/working bike.
If you want to waste people's time - including your own - please, continue showing the stupidest possible angle of track bikes being ridden in the street. don't fail before beginning your assignment. |

I think you should just do a presentation about LOLCATZ. Everyone likes them. Most people hate bikes. If you want your classmates to like you, which you should, use LOLCATZ.

Compare hipsters riding trackies on the street to lemmings in the wild. A marketing version of culling the herd. Cashing in on subculture isn't new, do some real research and you could have quite a presentation. I can't wait for all the cheap track frames in a couple years *rubs hands together*...daddy's going to the track...
|
Get the pics from that movie "Blond Ambition" and you'll have your messenger culture corrupted pics.
Do a Google search for top tube protectors. Count the number of companies selling them. Track the rise in prices for track frames, particularly Japanese ones and especially the NJS certified ones. Look at bike websites from years past; no track/singlespeed/street fixie bikes. Now look at their current websites; everybody is selling one. According to my LBS, Specialized is coming out with a whole lineup of bikes to serve the booming hipster crowd. And then there's scraper bikes. Don't forget, they are singlespeed, too. ridin' on my scraper bike, ridin' on my scraper bike. |
haha, I nearly fell of my bike when you started singing that to those scraper bike kids.
