Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

MY Conversion

Hey guys,

Thought I'd start a thread to document my upcoming conversion. I won a Univega Arrow Pace:

https://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...0%3D%26fvi%3D1

I've also picked up a dura ace 16t track cog from my LBS and will be picking up a lock ring and wheel set from them as well. Just waiting on the bike to get here, what do you think of it?

Thanks,
-Mike

You will have fun...

I would ride around a bit and find out your best gear ratio before stripping it down and settling on that 16t cog though. That way you can find what gear ratio you like, choose one of your chainrings and get a cog that will give you that ratio.

You can do all the math here...https://www.sheldonbrown.com/gears/
