3 questions on a r.e.load bag...

Hope you can help...

Just picked up a bag on ebay. Somewhere along the delivery line a pen has leaked on the yellow liner. Any ideas for getting the stains out. And the bag shipped with a D-Ring short. Any idea where I can pick one up in the UK. Google not much help. Also have a very battered reload bag where the silver strap cinch is totally knackered. Dont want to lose the bag - its the perfect wet work bag but need to sort the cinch. Again any ideas? Cheers. T

Bikes: Various by application

It won't come out completely, some outdoor equipment stores will have 2" d-rings available singly & if not a carabiner will work as well and come in many colours esp if the store has a climbing department, and finally all good things come to an end, if it lasted some years it did it's job, affix the strap permanently at a comfortable length and use it as a backup if you need to.

i think r.e.load repairs their bags. it might not be much help if you're across the ocean, and i don't know what they charge for it.

but i remember hearing that if you talk to them about it they'll fix stuff.

I took the D-rings off. They're totally useless in my opinion.

Really? I love mine. Strap adjustment is such a breeze.

Try an outdoors store for the D-ring, most have a basket full of them.

+1

i can see not needing the lower d-ring, but what happens when you loosen your bag fully and the strap flys through the buckle and you have to spend upwards of five minutes getting it back through the buckle so you can wear your bag again.

Reload's straps take for freaking ever to break in. Give it like two more months if you're not actively living with your bag on your back ten hours a day.

Cheers folks. For future reference. Nail polish, degreaser etc is a no no. But it faded the stains to a lighter brown which is better on yellow than black. D-Rings! Yacht chandlers (Which is posh for a sailing shop. Got to love London. Anything you want is somewhere local) Only £2 for two. And they are hefty muthas. So just the cinch clip left. I can feel a begging email to Seattle coming on.

Denatured alcohol is good for getting out ink stains without damaging fabrics.

Its not the fabric I'm afraid. It's the vinyl (?) lining. Shouldn't be bothered as it cant be seen but you know how it is.

I bought the reload celly holder when I ordered my bag. It turned out to be a terrible cell holder for me as it was difficult to reach the cellphone when it was on the strap. I much prefer carrying in my pocket. even fishing it out of my pocket while riding is easier.

the cool thing about the celly holder though is it turned out to be perfect for a tool pouch just fitting my multi-tool, 15mm stubby wrench, tire patches and a little 8/9/10mm combo wrench I like to cary. I can drop it in my bag, or velcro it to my bike if I'm not carrying a bag.

Just to clarify, you're not supposed to use the D-rings for adjustment on R.E.Load style straps. You use them in case you accidentally pull the strap too far through and can't get your hand in there. Adjustment should be very easy using your hand, actually grabbing the strap. To tighten, put your hand in the loop and pull toward your left shoulder (on a left shouldered bag). To loosen, put thumb behind the hinge in the buckle, and push away from the left shoulder, or toward the right hip. It's pretty easy, and should be relatively easy straight out of the box with little to no break in. Once the strap loosens up a bit though, it's effortless.

I couldn't get that link to work, but found the video here:
(totally helpful when you first get the bag)
