Fenders and Track Dropouts?
I've read in a couple places (on here and elsewhere) that there's a way of running full fenders on a bike with track dropouts such that you're still able to get the rear wheel off the bike without too much hassle, but I've been unable to find an actual good description and/or pictures of said setup. I'm getting ready to jump on the Rob Rob group buy, but I'm wondering how bad it's going to be with those long ends and my rear fender. Not looking forward to having to remove the fender to change a flat. Has anyone here figured out a good way of dealing with this? Thanks for any suggestions.

I feel a little silly now. Oh well, thanks.
Well, yes, I'm currently riding a road conversion. I'd like to be able to run some fatter tires this winter though and they just aren't gonna fit. I'd love to have the $ to spring for a real touring frame, but alas. The Rob Roy seems like a cheap and workable alternative. Especially now that I've been enlightened on the fender subject.
I suppose you'd prefer 'track ends'? I guess 'dropout' is a bit inaccurate. Nonetheless, it's become fairly common parlance, no?
Anyway, thanks guys. Worries alleviated.

I think Soma is making some fenders that are breakway all 'round. SKS have break-clips in the front, but not the back (though you can shift them, or get another unit). I run 32c w/ fenders, and the tire juuuuust goes in, as long as I roll the axle a bit.
Probably depends on the frame, how tight you have your fenders set, etc etc.

I think the Surly Cross Check would make a nice conversion, fits fenders, has horiz-dropouts... if you're looking to buy new.

Use the SKS mudguard 'secu clips' that are a safety fitting for the front guards on the rear.
When you need to remove the wheel just pull the stays out of the black supports that bolt to the eyelet on the frame

mudguard SKS kit with safetey clips
