The 07' madison's doesn't have a water bottle braze on like the 08' now has. I wanted to buy a 07 madison months ago, but sizing was an issue with what my lbs had in stock. I have a motobecane messenger which fits me perfect. The one thing i dislike about it is the old threaded setup.

So I got the 07 Schwinn Madison in small.
Perfect fit, feel, and price. I got it for $425 and can get money back if they discount it in the next 90 days.
I installed a computer bracket, rear safety light, a u-lock bracket with a u-lock, and plan on duct taping a water bottle holder on after I get it all electrical taped up (although I may just use a camelbak).
I will host a bad pic tomorrow.
I tried to get a cam pic but it sucked and it is dark out.
I just finished a quick night ride and it was everything I expected, lol.
I am converted for sure and plan on riding it to work tomorrow.

I saw the madison in person at performance last week. It felt pretty heavy to me (possibly heavier than my conversion which is a late 70s boat anchor Nishiki frame), and also looked pretty cheaply made up close. I'm guessing most people would take off the rear brake, but the way they had the rear brake cable running was really messy, and the components looked kinda cheap.

It runs great, no problems with riding in traffic and commuting.
The brakes definitely help out even though I barely used them , but when I did, man did I need them.
The only thing I had to do was tape down the zip ties holding the rear brake cable on, one of them sliced my leg last night!!! In fact, I taped a water bottle cage to the bottom tube using a combo of painters tape, duct tape, and zip ties. Its starting to look less attractive already, lol.
I am not a real bike afficianado, but the Madison seems solid and reliable and def a good commuter/fun/beater bike. I can fit a water bottle and u-lock, bike to get some espresso, go to work, meet up with friends and I am not worried the whole time about theft (as much), derailer problems, stopping, etc.
I am a fg/ss convert for sure and I am def keeping this bike.
