I also have white vittorias and like them. They're folding bead, white, and $30. No flats yet!

me too, i got a pair from Benscycle when they were on sale, put them on my Bianchi Volpe tourer. surprisingly, after the first couple of miles of riding on them, they actually shed grime instead of getting dingy. it's a nice development!

I ran a DiaCompe SS for a good while.
Id say without a doubt they suck completely.

Are there any white tires (all white or with the black stripe) that come bigger than 23c? Besides the Somas?

I have a diacompe SS and it seems alright to me.

I mean...I haven't had an issue one way or another

But for price, if you want white, get a Zaffiro...way cheaper

and you have tried them? what is your experience with them? that would be more insightful then just saying they suck with nothing to back it up

the vittorias don't suck for me because they are white which looks classic and they hold up really well on my commute and long rides, i can't think of a reason why they would be bad

I've got a white Zaffiro up front and and wht/blk Rubino in back, but man, I feel like I'm wrecking my wheels everyday on them being 23c. Wish I could find a good white tire in at least 25, take all the road construction and buckled pavement a little better.

I don't own calipers, but the zaffiro seems more like it measures about 25 than 23.

I had a pink grancompe SS and it bubbled atrociously. Took the tire off and the rubber was separating from the threads. I'm sure it's the same for the white, green, and orange. Ultra-low qual.

Those look good, except that my bike won't accept tires bigger than 28c, or so the specs say. I was looking at some Vittoria cross tires that were silver, but the smallest they came were 32. Looks like I'm probably SOL unless i get the Soma's. I hear the sidewalls on those blow.

The SOMA's are decent but yeah the sidewalls aren't too great, mine are starting to crack pretty badly after less than a month of occasional riding. I'd go for the Vittoria's.

At first I thought the exact copy of the Schutzstaffel "SS" logo on an "all white" tire was a sick photoshop joke, but I looked up the company, and it's for real. It is present on all the colors, so apparently they just don't know any better.

I saw some of those white Zaffiro Pro's at a Philly bike shop for $35. I paid $12 for black ones at Peformance Bikes. That's a 191% price increase.

Or about a 60% discount on your tires...

Which seems more likely?

I can be easily seduced by sexy promotional
photographs of almost anything...

The realities of pavement, the dirt, the grime, the additional
work, the constant gross imperfection... of all white tires?

Sounds like a cruel mistress.

Actually, in my experience, they stay fairly white from road friction.
