Check if your spokes have anything stamped on them by the hub on the inside. My wheels from Bell's were built with Sapim Laser spokes (they are stamped "Sapim"). They are Sapims flagship non-aero spoke. I've seen reviews saying they are better/stronger than DT Swiss revolutions. I would venture to say Sapim Lasers are equal if not better than DT Swiss revo or comp double butted spokes.

Not to say you should be content with not getting what you ordered. Just thought it may make you feel better.

A quick and dirty run down: Deep V's (2) $100, Iro Hubs (2) $80, Spokes (64) $64
Thats $244 and conservative on the spokes, and minus separate shipping.

Same wheels are going for $227 Buy it now from BellsLINKY

I figured if even if they were built bad, Id just fix it myself.

i checked, there's something stamped on the spoke near the hub, but it was too tiny for me to make out. He should have taken a moment to check my order before tossing it out the door, would've save me some grief

Thanks for the props Jerry!

Honestly, the best way to deal with your order with us is to talk to us. Talking to a forum thread doesn't get your problem solved. We are here to help, and more importantly, make satisfied customers!
Email us anytime! sales at bellsbikeshop dot com. Chances are we will get back to you within 4 hours or less (unless its overnight or the weekend).

Our man from the "the big rotten apple" failed to say a few things: these 36h wheels were built with double-butted spokes (we don't even stock straight gauge spokes in that length), that these were were a second set that was sent before we even had a chance to resolve what happened to the first set because we were so intent on getting him riding (and in our haste, didn't get to check the spoke count which at 36h costs us more!), and that we did respond to him. (Even on this message board!)

Let us build your wheels! We do custom orders because we can! All of our wheels are hand-built!

I honestly think the only problem that Bells is having is they are in a bad location for USPS to get things shipped out. I dont think they deserve the bad rep some people are giving them here.

Just my .02 I guess.

I find it entertaining that BellsBikes comes on here to defend themselves. I have made 3 purchases with them and on ALL 3 purchases I have been f*cked over. Steve over at bells bikes always has a excuse for why they have not responded to or why they take so long to respond to an email. If the guy can jus respond in a reasonable amount of time and ship when he says he will then it would be so much better. On average I would say that it took 3-4 weeks from initiating the transaction to getting the products to my door. If you want your items quick go with someone else but if you can wait and want great prices go with Bellsbikes.

Ebay is a den of thieves from the buyer or seller point of view. Best to avoid it altogether.

Bought from wheelandsprocket before- they seem like nice guys and the give out their toll free number to talk if you have questions- which a lot of shops don't do. (866.995.9918)
Sucks to hear about bell's not shipping- talked with them also and they seem cool.

Ordered essentially the same wheelset from Bell's in early June. Think I finally got them in Aug. I honestly thought they would never ship.
20 emails/phone calls. PayPal dispute. Steve at Bell's claimed they were shipped, which allowed PayPal to go after them sooner, rather than later. They arrived more than a month after he claimed he shipped them, and only after PayPal got involved. Shipment arrived, poorly packaged, damaged box, missing parts. PayPal says they can do nothing (or will do nothing, more like it) for partial shipments. They suggested I fill a claim with the FBI internet fraud dept. Steve at Bell's just laughed - couldn't give a ...

I have to think Steve enjoys his power. Man, the internet is like taking candy from babies. He can run this funky, unprofessional business of his and still have more orders than he can fill.

Waiting and fighting with Steve for my wheelset was more than two months of unnecessary stress. Took a lot of the pleasure out of my summer project with my son.

I initially responded after reading only 3 responses in this long thread (soon as I saw Bell's mentioned). Sorry to hear about this dispute. He ignored about 80% of my messages and phone calls (100% of them after the deal started to go bad!). To get some satisfaction, I finally filled a complaint with the Philly BBB. You can do this because he has a brick-and-mortar store. They send me a letter this week saying Bell's ignored repeated requests for a response to my complaint. Surpise, surpise. The BBB already had a file on Bell's, and mine goes into the permanent file along with them as unresolved complaints. I can only hope some buyer will check them for complaints, unlike myself.

Since then, I've sent inquires to two other online shops selling wheelsets - both have ignored requests for info, the last was a "checkout" question. What can I say, I'm feeling a little gun shy at the moment with internet/ebay shops.

Yes mine were custom. It was a PayPal transaction, not ebay. PayPal told me I would have been fully protected if it had been an ebay sale.

Bell's Bike Shop!
You shameless liar! 4 hours!?! You completely disappeared - no response to multiple calls and email, for weeks and weeks, after my order fell off the end of the earth. Now, you're going to act like you're mr. customer service!!!

People, do not believe this guy. No ethics, no morals, just a smooth talker, up front that is, until he has your money. I thought he was a cool guy to deal with too, before he f**ked me so bad. You want the lowest price? - be prepared to pay for it.

BEWARE of Bellsbikeshop. I ordered a pair of brand new black deep V's. There turned out to be a few sharp protruding dents on the rim itself. When I emailed bellsbikeshop asking for a new pair (exchanges acceptable if the customer isn't satisfied) it took a week for them to return my email. When they finally answered me they said they would get a return slip to me. After a week and a half of waiting I finally decided to call them. I got the answering machine 3 times (different parts of the day). I left a message and finally got an answer. The guy finally called me back in a couple days and told me that he had a wedding to go to so he couldn't contact me... After a week after, still no answer back or return label. So I finally decided to tell them that I wanted my damn money back. After a final angry email, they got back to me (after another week) saying that everyone was off for labor day.(isn't labor day just one day??) They fnally sent the return slip and I sent the wheels back. So I basically wasted a whole MONTH. In that whole month I saw about 30 new feedback. So the guy was either ignoring me or he really didn't have time..

Wheel and Sprocket FTW. I ordered a set brand new of black deep v's. Came on time, in good packaging and trued. "A++++ GREAT SELLER, would buy again..etc"

I picked up a set of DeepVs from Milwaukee Bicycle Co. a few months ago with no problems. Found them on ebay, but ordered over the phone 'cause I'm neurotic like that. Their pricing was about the same as Bells, from what I remember. About $320 which included shipping for a sweet pair of Electric Blue vees with black spokes. They've got a good selection of FG parts on their web site and were really easy to deal with.

I thnk they can be found at www.benscycle.com

... I guess I should add that the $320 included tax, shipping a 13t cog and lockring
