I still think CF would be great, as I can't think of a CF track frame that goes for under 2k F/F. Market differentation is a key point. You can get steel frames from many different sources, but a budget CF or Ti frame would be wonderful. I already have 4 steel 700c bikes (2 track and 2 road). I would love a different kind of track frame.

I for one would be stoked to sell off my KHS for a carbon/Ti/853/OX BD frame. Carbon would be sweet if the price was right, the roadies would be in shock if they ever picked up my bike!

It would be cool if you made an affordable velodrome-capable Al/carbon fork bike with good components. I think a well-spec'd complete bike in the $600-$800 range would sell enormously when put side-by-side with Langsters, etc. Something like the Pista Concept level parts for cheaper would be great.

I would consider going in for a Ti track frame if the price was right.

AND, it would really be great if things were made easier for Canadians to buy. I was ready to pull the plug on a Kilo TT a couple of weeks ago but it got too complicated and I went for a bike from my LBS for twice the price. I find it very unfortunate the deal didn't work out.

I've heard rumors that canadian customs is going to get a little more relaxed on importing complete bikes since the legislation which placed ridiculous duties on them is expiring soon.

What's the issue with credit cards? Is there a way around this so that I can order and worry about the customs myself?

Have BikesDirect ship the bike to the UPS Store in Ogdensburg, NY and pick it up there. Make sure that you have an invoice for it when you go through customs on your way back.

I was gonna ship to a friend in VT but where I ran into problems was trying to pay. They were willing to let me wire the money to them for a $20 fee on their end (I wasn't thrilled considering the $30+ fee on my end on top but it was still a better deal than anything local). But I had a tough time communicating with them to set up the transaction and got fed up. It seems like their online payment for US transactions works great but things got confusing. It would have been perfect if I could have paid with my own credit card and just shipped to my friend.

You could try wiring the money to them. If you email them they'll tell you how to go about it. I wish you luck. Please let me know how it goes.

How do other online retailers manage to accept Canadian credit cards without issues?

I'm gonna wait until these upgraded options are available but I'll keep you posted once I give it a try. If worse comes to worse I might just try and get a few people in on the deal since it'll get expensive pretty quick finding a car and driving down to NY.

so is the carbon thing all talk or were you seriously going to consider stocking something like that? pista concept-like (al+carbon fork) frame maybe?
