New Frame?! looking to build a new ride

i want to build an aluminum single, and i want a carbon fork, i live in Savannah, and the roads here suck, i always ride an old Schwinn single, and today i took my aluminum/carbon giant out (been in my room since i moved here months ago) and it just felt a million times better as far as road impact goes, so....

ive been eyeing these two items for a while... hrmm

i want:
front and rear brakes
track ish geometry
and i want it to be aluminum, i might be a minority when it comes to that one

i really dont want to spend to much money at all, but i know im going to

yeah you can't get a trackish geo alu and carbon fork for 'not much money at all' but i think you have a pretty good idea of what you want and while everyone says the dropouts are weird on that 720tr, i say you should go for it.

if i were to buy a leader i'd just buy the 35r and forget about the 20 but whatever you think.

and wheel/tire choice/saddle choice are going to come into play a lot too. get a carbon seatpost.

and for the most part:
track geo is not comfy. they make track bikes rigid, not comfy. i think you'd almost be well served by a bowery or langster. by the time you build up that leader it will be more as expensive. and the only thing it will have going for it is the geo... maybe... if that. and canti brakes.

you're looking at 300 shipped for that frameset. plus 100 for a saddle and bars, a 100 for a headset and stem, 150 for wheels, and you're at a langster. cranks and chain is another 100 or more.

basically, by the time you have tires on the thing you're going to be kicking yourself for not just getting a langster.

everyone around here has a god dam langster, lol, i know there is a reason for that, but im not going to be buying one, and im perfectly ok with the comfort trade off of a track style frame, i like the feel it offers

ill look into the 35, i want a brooks saddle, i just love leather, same for wraps, even though they probably wont season well, i try not to leave my bike in the rain ever

could you clarify on the weird dropouts?

these are the bars i want

im a fan of the drop, with cross brakes, and areo brakes on the ends of the horns

the adjustmentors can only be adjusted with the wheel off so it makes chain tension impossible without breaking the chain everytime or just using them like normal... which isn't a big deal but people got real upset about it the last time someone brought up the 720.

if you want, go ahead and build your own leader. just don't be surprised when you've spent 7 or 8 bills on it to make it how you want.

i meant 'adjustmentors' as a joke but looking back i meant to say tensioners, in case anyone cares.

if i were in your shoes, i'd rather get a bowery and have 3-400 in pocket to fix it up. you could easily blow that on a carbon fork, new brooks, and stratos bars... maybe some mx-1's and toshi's but... well... i'd still rather have the bowery and money in pocket than spend the kind of money you're talking about on a leader and have to cheap out on a lot of components.

to make it interesting, let's spec it out.

leader frame- 200 shipped
leader fork- 120 shipped with it.
b-17- 75
is6 cane creek- 50
bars- 60
nice stem- 50
nice tape- 15
sugino 75s w/bb- 200
nice pedals/straps-100
wheelset, dp18's- 175
cog/freewheel/chain- 25/15/20- 60
seatpost- 50
what else? let's say 20 for 'incidentals'
1,175
yeah, i'll be taking that bowery thanks.
