OK. I assumed you meant "what is on the picture" is 5 lb - you werre not explicit. Yeah, 6.5 lb is slightly bit heavy but really nothing I wouldn't aprecciate.

And yes, the green thing is nice. I wish I could see the lugs and faceplate on that, and the decal. The fork is not my cup o'tea, though.

I have a Soviet-era oscilloscope somewhere. That thing is both horrid and amazing at the same time. Some components are of excellent quality, others are total crap. All in all, a very charming little gadget. It works, too (with lax tolerances).

I remember they were popular in my country of origin, they were all Raketa models (written in cyrillic "Paketa" or something....). We used to joke that they were really nice and fast.

They built Diamant bikes in East Germany, in 'Karl Marx Stadt ' actually, and some track bikes too. These sometimes pop up in German Ebay but I've no idea whether they are that good.

And wroompops; my Soviet bike sleeps in Vallila and spends its days at the University, at Faculty of Social Sciences.

University? Do you mean in Otaniemi? Or downtown? I'm not going to vallila these days - I used to, was in love with a girl living there.

Hi guys

I have just bought a Record frame (1985), gold series, SPORT model (cnopm) for sentimental reasons (cheers, Eskachig!)

BUT, the head badge and original fork are missing...

Good luck. Some Soviet frames had Soviet standard parts. If yours does it will be very hard to find replacements.

I bought a Record very similar to the first one posted...got it for less than $200 shipped and I'm into it. There's sloppy welds that reinforce the lugs' seating into the tubes, no headbadge, and it's pretty chipped up. I dig it. The only thing that pissed me off was that it came in a potato box with holes in it and NO EXTRA PACKAGING. No bubblewrap or even newspaper. I'm really surprised the frame isn't dented. The headset bearings were in a dimebag taped to the seat tube around the USSR logo...you know the rest. So now I'm looking for some touch up paint. It's a 25mm seatpost, I'm going to grab a Thomson for it unless I can find something cheaper.

Oohhh... I fscking hate it when they do that. Like throwing in some crampled newspaper would have cost them anything. Funnily enough, this most often happened in my beloved Finland, of all places. What's wrong with people?

And there is the whole reason I've shied away from the Soviet frames on eBay. It's too bad, they're really cool.

There are much better frames out there for the money. There is a reason that the Soviet team rarely rode Soviet bikes.......

5lbs for a frame? No wonder it didn't dent, lead is a very tough material.

Soviet Frame

Maybe I am lucky but my frame is a standart mount.
BB: 30x70mm
Headset: 1''
Seatpost: 1'' (got one jpr)
rims axis : fr100mm rr120mm
weith for a 580mm lenght frame (seat tube) : 2kg

There are olympic rings painted on the seat tube, maybe that plays with international mounts.

With that bottom bracket there is a chance that it is an Italian frame that was repainted for a Soviet team. Rossin was a favorite during Soviet times.

Do you think this was this because Rossin reads almost like 'red', if you want to see it like that?

But about this; I don't think these track frames we are talking about here used any kinds of strange Soviet size standards, BB and headset threads were probably Italian-type and you can always find almost any size seatpin if just look a little bit. The guy who's selling those ugly rusty frames on Ebay says that the axle spacing is always 100mm/120mm and so on.

So basically, I don't think there's really any problem with finding fitting parts for those frames.

soviet rusty (not so much but still) frame

All the threads are normal.
I am just looking for a nice badge.

Only the seattube was 25mm, I had to buy an old one (JPR).

I found and bought a nice vintage chromed columbus Fausto Coppi Fork that fits perfectly (I hope, because haven't received yet)

cheers
