Right, some people like things that suck. :D

Straws 11-26-07 03:18 PM

Football does not suck. I mean, besides the league, stupid rules, stupid fans, stupid players, and all the stupidity that surrounds the sport it can sometimes be pretty fun to watch.

hey.. it's better than baseball! :D

Football is awesome to watch...amazing athletes, insane strategy involved.

Dhani Jones has had a very successful NFL run and he has made enough money to finance a variety of his other interests. GOOD FOR HIM! I'm sure he would be a great guy to hang out with.

Baseball sucks to watch but it's fun to play (non-competitively anyway). I guess that's actually true of all team sports (for me anyway).

pinkmike 11-26-07 04:39 PM

Dhani Jones is awesome, but I still hate the Bungles.

i don't think baseball sucks to watch. watching baseball is all about drinking beer and eating hot dogs.

but football=stupid. i tend to be somewhat suspect of people who like football, but then, i suppose that stems from the football team at the small town high school i attended for a year that picked on me because i was the only punk at the school, making an easy target.

Hopefully he rides around in full gear, brakeless, and screaming "Can't stop! Won't stop!"

Which sport is this?

Never heard of it before - after a bit of Google research it looks a bit like rugby but toned down for people worried about physical contact. Do many people play it?

No, it's for poor people, the young, those recently popped for DUI and wacky college professors.

i remember an article talking about how Bill Walton from the portland trailblazers (yeah i know it's not football) rode a bike to practice. He had a Falcon road bike custom made, i think. Imagine the size of that frame!

i hate jocks as much as the next guy, but american football is awesome. if it weren't for american football, the states would probably be one of the most dominant soccer countries in the world.

true. but this only applies while at the stadium, otherwise, it's back to a complete borefest. and it has to be a nice sunny day with a nice breeze. i couldn't tell you the score of any of the reds games i've been to in the past 5 years i've been here. but there's something fun about eating stadium hotdogs and drinking overpriced crappy beer for the 7 or so innings they serve. :D

You'll never hear anyone who has played both sports make this argument. Most of the hits in American football would get you thrown out of a rugby match. There's a big difference between wrap 'em, drop 'em, let 'em go in rugby and the way you drive up and through from the hips in American football. Rugby can be violent and dangerous for sure, but American football is a much, much rougher sport.

Also, anyone who thinks the pads make some huge difference has never been hit in pads.
