Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

You can make a bolt on cog hub using a MTB front hub. You can also drill you own cogs instead of paying someone else to drill six holes.

Royce for one - over 400 USD for a set - really, really nice though.

Zipp and Campagnolo Pista are the others that I can think of that are more expensive. But you're right there aren't many hubs out there that are much more expensive (ignoring stupid ones like Powertaps etc).

DT Swiss.
Tune.
Chris King.
Campagnolo.
Whte Industries.

All of these guys make hubs that are 3 (and some even up to 6!) times more expensive than a Phil rear hub.
