Peugeot PX-10
 

Here is one of the classics converted to Fixed Gear. 1970's Peugeot PX-10, Reynolds 531 DB Frame with Nervex Fancy professional lugs.
The Frame has all the unnecessary protruberances ground off and repainted in a classic panel style. T.A. Cyclotourist crank arms w/drilled 43 Tooth Chainwheel and T.A. Track Pedals, 16 Tooth cog on Phil Wood 36 hole High Flange hubs front and rear. Phil Wood s/s Bottom Bracket, Stronglight A-9 Headset (love those French threads), Nitto Track Bars and Pearl road stem, Simplex seatpost and Brooks Professional Saddle, Mavic open pro rims and Panaracer Pasella 28mm tires. This is a very smooth riding bike with predictable handling and a great bike for touring on.

One of the best things you can do is share the love of fixed gear riding with someone else, hence this great tandem. 1970's Gitane lugged Tandem painted in a classic panel style with the following parts: Phil Wood Fixed/Fixed High Flange rear hub w/17/18 tooth cogs and High Flange Front. Shimano Sora Cranks on T.A. Bottom Brackets 39 tooth Sync chainwheels and 40 tooth drive chainwheel. MKS pedals and clips, Nitto bars and stem Mavic 36 hole ma-3 rims, Brooks B-17 and B-67 Saddles, Conti 1000 sport tires 28mm Mafac centerpull brakes with Kool Stop Pads. You really need those pads to slow this thing down from higher speeds. My wife will only ride fixed gear with me on this bike, Otherwise she insists on having the ability to coast. Silly Girl.

Cinelli Super Corsa Fixed
 

This one started out life as a standard Cinelli Supercorsa Road frame. After riding it for a few years and needing another fixed gear bike project, (Who Dosen't?), I decided to try something radical. I ground off all the useless fittings and had a set of track ends put on the rear. While it was in the shop I had a set of S&S couplings installed and then painted it in a Pesto Green color that you see. The parts are: Phil Wood 32 Hole High Flange Hubs w/16 Tooth Cog, Phil wood TI Bottom bracket. Shimano Crank with 48 Tooth chainring and Campy Croce d' Aune Pedals, clips and straps. Chris King head set, and Nitto Pearl stem w/ Track Drop bars. Campy Brake lever and Chorus brake. Conti 2000 tires on Mavic Open Pro rims, Campy Chorus TI seatpost and Brooks TI Swift seat. When I got it back from the shop I constructed a padded and divided carrying case out of Levi blue jean material with heavy duty padding sandwiched between layers of fabric and also padded tubing wraps. Padded wheel bags also. The whole thing fits into a space that is about 2' x 2-1/2' x 8" and has a strap to carry it. You don't need to disasemble anything more than the S & S couplings and wheels and it packs into a portable package for travel. The Coupling do not add any more weight than a second bottle of water and really adds to the versatility. There is absolutely no frame flex and, if anything, it is even stiffer than original. This gives you a reason to take the bike along where it might not be convenient to haul a full sized bike, and not have to deal with a hard case when you get there. I use this bike all the time and it handles like any other high end fixed gear road bike but it is just that much more fun to take it along when you otherwise wouldn't be able to take one with you.

My wifes S/S
 

I built my wife up a nice Raleigh Fixed gear and she rode it once and said she hated it because you can't coast. Sigh! She says, "it must be a guy thing". Go figure. Any Way, to the item at hand. This bike was one I had laying around from 1986. A KHS hardtail lugged dirt bike. I ground off all the fittings and set it up as a single speed bike. This was before the current craze of single speed had come into flower. I currently has Paul 36 hole hubs with 18 tooth rear cog and Shimano 36 tooth Chainring on Shimano arms and un-72 BB. Bear Paw pedals and Avid V brakes and levers. Brooks B-67 saddle and Carridice junior Saddle bag. Mavic 517 rims and 32 mm Avocet cross tires. I gave it to my wife and she loves it. She won't ride anything else. Painted Moltini Orange and ready for the dirt. Very relaxed angles as you could throw a dead cat between the rear wheel and the seat tube. I doubt you could throw a live one or even if you should want to. Now if I could get her to ride fixed gear.

Raleigh S/S
 

This is the bike that I originaly built up for my wife as a F/G which she rejected as too weird for her to ride. It is currently set up as a Single Speed townie and is actually quite nice for that purpose. It is a 70's Raleigh of uncertain pedigree, which I had painted British Racing Green and then outfitted with Paul Hubs 36 hole with 18 tooth cog and Ma-3 rims and Panaracer Pasella 28 mm tires, & SKS Fenders. Campy Chorus cranks and Bottom Bracket with a 39 tooth chainring. Shimano Brakes and levers on Nitto North road bars and Terry Stem. MKS platform peddles and clips & straps. Carridice Low Saddle Bag on Brooks B-67 Saddle. This is a great "go to the store" bike. It longs for the days when it was a fixed gear bike but some things are not meant to be.

Here she is. Just completed within days.

A DeBernardi cro-mo Thron, 55cm (from Yojimbo's). Salsa BellLap cyclo-cross bars, some Shimano breaks, Sweet Surly flip-slops with MA3 rims. The tires (a complete beotch to get on) have been worth their effort: Vittoria Randonneru Cross 700/28. 165mm Shimano Sora cranks with Speedplay pedals, which already seem to be sparing me some knee problems. Brooks B17 and 3T Mutant stem which I got for a steal at On the Route Bicycles, Chicago, IL. She rides and rolls smooth, sooo smooth.

That has to be one of the sweetest looking rides I've seen. Love the lugs and the dropouts.

My Current Platform
 

GTB 7005 frame (52 cm) with cromoly fork, Suzue basics laced to MA2s front and back. Sugino 75 crank and chainwheel (46T), Dura Ace cog (15T) and lockring. Salsa SUL stem, run of the mill bars. Front brake is a Sora as well as the levers. Front brake swapped to right hand, left lever gutted out. Tires are Michelin Dynamics, got them cause they were "all black". Specialized Sport cyclo-puter. Eggbeater S pedals. GT seatpost. Lil red valve caps. Keeping my eye open for a nice red saddle.

Rides a lot like my '99 Lemond Alpe, which has a wishbone seat stay.

I'm still lusting for the GT Pulse. Basically the same frame, but all Dura Ace components. Then again maybe the next endeavour will be a MTB fixed.

Here's the Fuji. Planning to dremel off the shifter bosses and cable guides soon.

That would be me. The bike's seat was only a little torn. The El Camino, so far as I know, is still parked in the same space. I am on the mend.

This is my messenger bike, called "Dumbo", in it's summer kit. Now she sports a carbon Cyclocross fork and is running Nokian studded snow tires - Also, the brakes have been changed to Avid Shorty 4's as I just could not get the TT levers to work with Mini-V's. The handlebar is an old 3T "Moscow" time trial model, which I picked up from a bargain bin. Needless to say, Dumbo is now scratched, abused and covered in stickers and duct tape, and looks like messenger bike proper :D
