I'm no seasoned wrench, but I wanted to give my brother's old Schwinn World a new lease on life.

I just got it put together today and it rides great. I figure I'll put some new pedals on it and wrap the bars, but other than that I think it'll be alright. Thankfully my brother is tall too.

your bike is super nice and i have a feeling you actually know how to ride it too.
the yellow stickers on the deepV's pretty much match your rensho decals....

Hickabod - what size frame is that? Bikes that big just look crazy to me, but then I'm used to small bikes myself that probably look tiny to you.

12XU 10-22-06 12:45 AM

That Scwhinn is pretty elegant, especially with that patriotic backdrop, although you might want to put a brake/clips and straps on there to avoid death.

Jurrell 10-22-06 01:02 AM

Everyone says my frame is huge, I think they are just being mean :(

I built up both of these a few weeks ago:
First one is mine, and the second one is my wife's:

http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a241/suhcmf/fg1.jpg
http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a241/suhcmf/fg3.jpg
Bareknuckle, Velocity Aerohead rims, Formula hubs, cheap pedals, IRO Cranks (upgraded someday), Thomson seatpost, Deda Pista bars, Concor Supercorsa saddle (that I'm not used to yet). Bought the frame used.

And the wife's bike I found in a friends alley. Stripped it, painted it, and built it. I just remembered I already posted her bike on here, but here it is again with bartape on it.

Schwinn frame, Velocity Aero rims, Formula hubs, Selle Italia girl saddle, Sugino cranks and that's about it.

Jimbobunyons 10-22-06 04:35 PM

God... your bike looks great. I love the blue bareknuckle...

I was set on getting it until I found a maroon panasonic for 510.

I figured I'd have to spring for headset and new bb for the bk, and the panasonic comes with them...

oh well. Iffin I dont like the panasonic (which is doubtful) I'll ask santa claws to bring me that bareknuckle!

My first fixed gear.

Surly Steamroller with Araya wheels, Hutchinson/Bontrager tires, wrapper Profile bars, Sugino crank, cheap pedals.

I love the Bareknuckle. Especially the fork.

DasProfezzional 10-22-06 06:38 PM

Eff the Bareknuckle, what I loves is the Gatorskins. Mmmm...so durable.

Aeroplane 10-23-06 10:55 AM

Finally, a shot of me doing something cool on a bike:

Step-up kicker with gap. Cleared it, and landed in an (unintentional) wheelie.

What you can't see is me clenching hard enough to turn coal into a diamond.

bonechilling 10-23-06 01:43 PM

I am disappointed that Aeroplane isn't really a head
in a jar from Futurama.

Offhoff 10-23-06 01:52 PM

Not just any head, sulu's head.

Just finished my first fixie. It's a 1983 Bianchi Nuovo.

Here it is on Velospace: http://velospace.org/node/1182

Speaking of motorcross, I just finished building up my new karate monkey this weekend. Thought I'd hit the forum with some pics:

It's pretty much built to roll over anything there is to roll over. Booyah achieved.

Very nice... I know that those forks get a bit of flack for being flexy, but mine have seen me right for AGES! Just got new bushings and they are like new again. Have you just zipped tied the brake hose to the uppers or have you done it so they can slide? I only ask because I found that if I don't allow the hose to slide as the fork compreses then I end up kinking the hose.

I've heard the same issues but if you actually tighten the axle correctly it's been treating me like a champ since I picked it up. I had installed it on my Instigator origionally, and have re-ziped it to allow for enough bend in the hose without kinking it (thus far).

...but I wanted this bike to be big: big frame (20"), big wheels (29er), big tires (2.3), big brakes (8" hydro), and a big travel fork (5") :D
