Because Ti is actually as heavy as hell when you think about it.

Just kidding, someone has to be the wing man. Can I post my bike in the jackass bike of the day-thread now please?

Or let me put the weight to where it actually matters, on the rims.

There.

to continue with the expensive suggestions theme, I think in addition to straight blades a less expensive than phil option is his cousin paul, paul weighs less too, whatever.

just a personal thing but I love the Pauls. The only thing that stopped me from getting them was that they weren't double fixxed. I can't stand seeing fixed/free hubs

its not that I can't stand seeing them, I just figured once I was in that price range I would go with phils, there is something magical about them. plus sheldon made me.

I like them too, the idea of a nice Ti frame like that previous one, and a Wolf TT and Pauls...I might start saving again..dammmit. I need a touring bike for this summer too, I will never make it at this rate.

The Paul's have a 44mm chain line which is kinda weird and will make using a non-Paul crank a pain. Other than that, like most of his products, they are really nice.

I have Paul hubs and have abused them like a red-headed stepchild. They seem to like the beating.

44mm chainlines are just a bit noisy. Nothing a good wipperman chain doesn't fix and they're lighter than Phils...

yeah, but why spend that kind of scratch to get anything less than dead-on chainline?

edit: while i realize you could get a longer bb spindle, that would also wack up your q factor a bit, especially as i'm sure most of us are used to shorter bbs and narrower q factor by now.
