It needs panniers and a bearded rider, wearing socks and sandals.

edit: sorry to anyone who cares that i reposted the pics. but they're worth a second viewing, right?

Kelowna, British Columbia, Canada.

The pics were taken about a 15 minute hike from my front door. Depending on where you live you might have heard about the forest fire we had a few years ago, damn near half the trees in the town burnt down.

Here are a few more shots of the carnage:

You'd be a fool to repaint that bike (the Lenton), even with stickers. It's lovely the way it is.

I think the paniers would be a great idea (I love mine), beards can be quite flattering, and in Canada, wearing socks and sandals is a pretty common occurrence.

I love practical bikes.

oh, wow. the first pic was the only one like those, and i just sort of looked quickly enough to assume they were just bare deciduous trees, which on second look is waaaay wrong.

damn, that sucks. nature can be so awe-inspiring, beautiful and amazing, it sucks to lose any of what we have left.

stickergiant.com, 1.50 or so depending on size.

carssuck666 01-03-08 12:38 PM

That bike is asking for some fenders.

barba 01-03-08 02:03 PM

Nice bike, bonechilling. I agree that it wants fenders.

Your brake caliper is open, BTW. How do you like using the Campy style lever release in combo with the Shimano caliper release? I like the idea of being able to open the brake up wide, but worry that it is twice as many things to forget to close.

fortunately if you forget to close the campy style quick release, the brake will still work as normal, the lever will just stick out when you're not pulling it. forgetting the caliper's qr is much worse. worse still is forgetting to reattach my cantilever yokes after removing the wheel. i've had a couple rude awakenings on race morning when starting my warmup (thank bob i always warm up)

I love the levers and the Campy style releases, and I actually use the Shimano caliper release as a poor-man's brake adjuster. So basically, I just leave it up and drop the lever out if I ever need to change a tire.

I have fenders, but it's been dry, so there's been no reason to mount them lately.

Big thanks to my homie Bennett...

TehK 01-03-08 07:09 PM

Thats a really nice C'dale you got there.

bonechilling 01-03-08 07:09 PM

That bike is ridiculously small for you. I do love the Cannondale Track, though.

Hiwaga 01-03-08 07:16 PM

Thanks
It looks kinda small, youre right. But it fits me pretty well. I like the aggressiveness of the bike. Esp with the huuuuge difference with the seat-bars.

Once you get to the point where you dont sacrifice fit for the cool look you will have a much more enjoyable ride on your bikes.
Nice frame.

nice colors, I'm rebuilding mine to go for a gold/black/blue scheme with hints of silver. You'll like your ride! Is that a vetus or kinesis fork?

NewYorkMantle 01-03-08 08:51 PM

tangsooyuk = agreed

yea it does look a bit sketchy. On long rides your arms and shoulders will be suffering. Risers of course can help with that though
