I think it bears repeating that my knees actually got better when I started riding fixed, and I'm not the only one with this experience. Not saying it can't make your knees worse, but it's not a universal truth.

yeah i had bad knees up until i started riding fixed.
I always needed orthotics and my knees were able to crack on command.
ever since i've started riding fixed, they've felt stronger, don't crack at all, and they seem to hold up to a lot more than i could put them up to before.

I used to get knee pops and now I dont! I guess going from city running to cycling with a brake will do that.

my knees got better, too. i had a knee injury in high school that led to chronic soreness, especially in cold and damp weather. riding fixed took care of it!

Not snobery, it bio-mechanics. Have you had you KOPS checked out? A few millimeters can make all the difference in the world when it comes to knee pain. A lot of people will incorrectly use saddle fore/aft to adjust cockpit length. Saddle fore/aft should be adjusted to get your knee over the pedal spindle at the three o'clock position.

BTW that is a nice looking bike.
