Haha! Yeah, that bike is amazing. It's been hung up on the wall of a mechanic's warehouse for the last couple of years and whenever I'd go there I'd just stare and stare at it......

regardless, I want... badly....

where did you get that they are able to change the head tube angle?
if you are referring to the piston and rod that goes from the fork to the TT then you are looking at what is a steering stabilizer, modeled off of if not off of a motor cycle it's self.

I imagine he is referring to that. I'm curious, what exactly does that thing do?

put resistance into the steering, it also helps eat up steering vibrations and keep the wheel going straight at high speeds.

Wotan 02-26-08 08:33 PM

Oh, I get it. I think I remember hearing that some cars have automatic steering stiffening as the speed increases. Makes sense. Thanks!

Cynikal 02-26-08 09:04 PM

They had something similar for downhill bikes in the 90's. I don't read the mags anymore so I'm not sure if they are still doing that.

chase. 02-26-08 09:04 PM

yep. most (especially european) cars with power steering use progressively less assist as speed increases.

wroomwroomoops 02-26-08 09:57 PM

Oh, now I get it! So it's a modern version of a Draisienne!

i was refering to that but thats fine, i was just guessing. there is some way to adjust the head tube though according to Andy White.

note invisible 16t EAI cog, chain, and bar end plugs. Also imperfect handlebar and seat angles.

The frame was built by McBain Cycles in Tasmania.

bward1028 02-26-08 11:06 PM

sweet. would love to see those colors outside.

bexley 02-26-08 11:18 PM

Mmm. Wasn't that on eBay? If it's the same one, what did you end up getting it for?

Yea i swear that was on ebay. You need to get some better components.

I'm normally in the "just build it and ride it" camp, but you're right. The components on that bike don't do the frame justice.

Yes, it is a bianchi carbon fork that was on it when I bought the bike. The color is more of a seafoam or sky blue in real life.

Straws 02-27-08 12:25 AM

you rattlecanned a carbon fork?

really rattlecanning any frame that's not some gaspipe conversion seems wrong to me.

WINNER.

meyersforever 02-27-08 01:17 AM

The headset is integrated, btw.

bonechilling 02-27-08 01:30 AM

Since when has the Pista come with an integrated headset?
