they work great although it really feels like you are dragging a sea anchor when climbing.

Huh. That's expensive for one tyre. I got a 26" Extreme for 32 EUR new which is really a great price, but I'm going to use the Schwalbe Ice Spikers - they are about the same quality and performance as the Extreme 294, just a bit smaller knobs, but you can get them for cheap if you shop around in ebay.de.

I got used to the extra resistance that the ~300-stud tyres produce. There's enough winter here, for one to get very comfortable with such tyres.

nothing wrong with those frames, good entry level ride. the frame was designed by a pro track racer. so at least it has better geometry than an IRO or pista

So from now on, whenever anyone Kazane frames on this board, are we going to have Richmond posters crawling out of the woodwork to tell us how great they are?

well, it has different geometry than an iro or pista. the (bianchi) pista is called that for a reason, you know.

Yup! It's not bad, either.

wait, was that you in the car I talked to on Cary? I was riding down cary a while ago and there was a car with a kazane frame in it and I stopped at the light to talk to them. I then proceeded to miss my clip and get a huge pedal bite on my shin as I rode away.

I ****ing love that fixed Monocog 29er. So awesome.

Here's a fartsy shot of my Cross Check before Chilly Hilly on Sunday. 33 miles, 2,675 feet of climbing.

I wanted some gold on it. This was an old dicks sporting goods close out, got it for 60% off, beat the crap out of it, went through 2 forks. Decided i didnt want to throw it away but it was too much of a pain to keep going, so i turned it into an awsome single speed!!

Why put the disc brake on the back and not the front?

EDIT: nevermind, went through 2 forks, so I'm assuming it's not disc compatible (doesn't look like it is but I can't be sure). I love the bars being wrapped with innertube.

I know that bianchi also builds the pista concept... which is their "race" geometry frame. they build that for a reason too, you know

are u implying that the pista is called such because it's a TRACK bike?

VO Courier, I think.

What a wildly uninformed statement. The Pista and the Pista Concept have the exact same geometry.

Anyway, the implication that the geometry of the Pista (or the Concept) is somehow lacking and falls short of being "true track" or whatever nonsense is bull****.

No I think he was implying that he talked to the previous poster on the streets of richmond...

I had that setup for a while on a (geared) winter ride - disk brake in the rear. The reason is, in the winter a good and especially mud/dirt-proof rear brake is more important than a front brake in the conditions we have here. Stopping with a front brake while going down a frozen hill or along a road with bumpy ice, possibly slightly melted on top which makes it diabolically slippery, well, you just don't want to use your front brake. I would have killed myself n times if I did that. You have to tailor your riding style and only use the rear brake carefully but rather often.
